1982 ke 185
Finally after farting around with a too far gone Dt250, I found this little KE 185 for $400.00. On a whim, I bought it, the guy even delivered it for me. It looks really tiny next to my Vulcan but enduro has been calling. I started to check things out and the previous owner had screwed up most of whatever could be adjusted. I reset all I could, replaced the rear tire for $32.00, the rear brakes and fork seals total cost approx $100.00. I even made a speedo cable for it for the safety check. I go to the licensing office and because someone in the past licensed this off road, they cannot give a me a plate unless I get a letter from Kawasaki, not the dealer, to say this is a road legal unit. I call Kawasaki Canada and they immediately email me what I need. (they were very quick and efficient). I go back and get that fixed up then call my insurance to find out that the bike is too old and only Jevco will insure it. I have 2 other bikes with Primmum. So much for customer loyalty! Anyways I was going to trade it for a scooter but I had so much fun with it, two up even, that I am going to keep it and probably sell my Vulcan next year for a bigger enduro (BMW strikes my fancy). I also see someone in Toronto has a Sherpa for sale for 3900.00. Might be a little steep. Any ideas for a not too high daily driver, 2 up capable, light (very light) touring duties, cheap on gas? It seems my biggest issue with enduro is the height. I have short legs, heck "most" of me is short (lol).
