which rack?! Made myself a new one.....

rolling thru town stopping at stop signs an idea popped into my head... I needed a rear top rack but really thought it dumb to pay $100 for in a sense a 4mm piece of Alu. Have tons of 3mm laying around (used it inside the pelicans) but no 4mm. Then it hit me! The other day at the scrap yard I picked up myself a RailRoad Crossing sign.... guess what? 4mm Alu! same thing the stop signs are made outta...



so the results:

















whole setup MAYBE costs me 20 bucks?! I'll make some more if anybody would like one cheap!

P.S. - sorry I don't have any "build" pictures... was on a roll! basically

Measure holes in dibond to transfer
1) plasma cut plate
2) smooth edges
3) punch holes out
4) mill alu spacers
5) bolt up!

but that wasn't enough for one night!

I had to kill the cat.... no really.... I did shoot a stray one today..... no joke

but the bike just wanted to breath better.... so had to open here up first!





pure SWAG but it was a perfect cut!!!!!!!!!!!



the CAT material started about another 1-2 mm down... then came the hole saw/wire brush/chisel/beating tool/prybar/new sanding discs/sand wheel/wire wheel... some time later...



now that should be better!!!!

weld back together... really easy welding too



stop any rusting...

the Givi crashbars just weren't to my liking so i decided to space them further out... some punched bigger hole washers

Seriously, the pannier racks look well done. I wish I had the time to monkey around with my bike as much as some of you folks do. Very cool. I'm really liking the caribou mounting system. Easy on/off, and adjustable. The biggest downer for me with the HB's is just how far offset they are but I'm hoping to remedy that soon.

Moto, the deal from TN fell through. They were asking way too much, and didn't want to bother with shipping. (I found shipping for $155 on ABF truck). So the hell with it, I found one in Arkansas, and picked it up.

Well coming home from my trip I learned a lot about my bike.... some things I hate..... and some things I love....

Despite all the work I have done... I ain't done yet!

4) Woody's 18" rear - Tubeless

9) Ditch Panniers - GL with a small Pelican top box
10) Possible Single Rotor Conversion Front

What is #2?

Having the Woody's tubless is awesome.

What's the difference between 7 and 8?

Ohlins rock! At least my rear does. I want Ohlins fork internals too!!

#2 gets rid on the urine sample cup

7 and 8 - the TT tank has a locking cap so I plan to get rid of that and 8 is the under seat OEM bmw tank I plan to make keyless as well

Haven't pulled the trigger quite yet on the ohlins but its looking like the TTX or a KTM 990 front end conversion....

It's fairly common for 990 owners to have considerable work done on their forks. I'd just go with the Ohlins TTX. You'll probably pay less in the end and get a better suspension.

Why the TTX instead of the NIX? I've seen a lot more of the NIX around, so I'm curious.
