Ghost town and beyond...

It was a hardest Saturday morning I had in a long time...the Friday night was spent crazy...involving girls and booze and getting home at 3am...

So on Saturday I dragged my shaking body from the bed at 9:59am and headed to Bernie's place where John and Frank were waiting.
I was their trail guide today...

An hour later we were in the mountains...
The day and the road condition was perfect...!

As soon we passed this sign...the road turned to mud pit...

Too bad my camera flattens all the angles...this hill was steep...
And street tires did not helped to get good traction...

With a little huffin and puffin...we reached back door of Yosemite NP...

The rest of the trip was easy...

...and the views were not bad ...

I will go ahead and skip this part where we lost Frank...and go back straight to the fun and happy ending
that involved Bernie, beer, BBQ...

...a lot of sitting around the fire...

Led paint soaked fire wood...that burned like crazy...

...and then I passed out. Not sure if it was a beer or the led fumes...but I slept like I never slept before...

...to be continued...

...and here it is...

Next morning I was awaken by fresh smell of coffee...so I crawled from under the blanket and scratched my head...
I felt good today...
After some morning coffee and after Jon's seat was dry we said our goodbyes to Frank and Bernie and set out for another adventure...

...it was cold...no, please let me rephrase it...it was very cold...
It was like flying a jet fighter without a canopy and only in boxers and flip flops...

Jon (or should I call him a Stig) was frozen solid...

We continued heading East over the Tayoga pass...meanwhile the sun was getting higher and warmer...

Looking back at the frozen mountains that we just crossed over...

Around 1o am we reached Mono Lake...stopped to get some gas for our bikes and hot breakfast for ourselves...

Next stop was Bodie Ghost town...we took the scenic route via Cottonwood Canyon road...
10 miles of washboards...I swear I lost like 3 of my front teeth...

We walked around the town... checked some stuff out...

...it was time to head out back...so I suggested to take another road back to the Bridgeport...
17 miles of pure pleasure...

Jon soaking in the views...

At some point we decided to leave the main road and do some exploring...

...pretty soon we were lost...no, please let me correct myself...we were confused...

...but we continued to move forward...

..until we reached point of no return...

..there were a goat trail on another side of the canyon ...so we headed for it...

I think this was the spot that Jon told me:

"when...if we get back to the civilization, I will strangle you..."

...so we pressed on...

...having fun...

...I am pretty sure we should go this way....

It was breathtaking beat up trail that lasted for 14 miles....

...and just like that we were back in the civilization and headed back West over the Sonora Pass home...

It was awesome...!

Loved your ride report. Those are great pictures of the snow capped mountains. I love ghost towns and this one looked pretty cool. Are there any residents who still occupy buildings? One with the pool table looks "kept" somewhat.

Oh, and I'll have to remember your line for one of my future adventure's, "we're not lost, only confused" or words to that affect.

Again, awesome photo's, thanks for sharing.

The Ghost town of Bodie...

is in a "State of Arrested Decay". Nobody lives there, There is an entrance fee and it's maintained only to the limit of the natural decaying process. It'll be there for a long time out there. Sorry for the highjack

Kick ass man! I ride out in the Bodie Hills a lot. Great riding and exploring area. Thanks for taking the time to post your cool pics.

I'm curious as to how the Rotopak is attached on the last pic?

Cheers!
