First ride

Gday all.
First time offroad on a bike today, on my new-to-me dr650. Nothing too exciting but for me it was!
Hard dirt sections with plenty of loose stones I gotta say was pretty daunting but the few softer sections were an absolute blast. Have tomorrow off and planning to do duck creek road from Kerry to lamington.
Can't wait!

Duck Creek Rd and dr650 first impressions

First real offroad ride. Was grinning like an idiot the whole time but I had a few really close calls too. I have no idea how i avoided coming off to be truthful. I was bucked a few times fish tailing in sloshy mud or sliding down into deep rocky ruts in the road. Just grit my teeth, stayed on the throttle and hoped for the best, and thankfully the DR kept its footing . This is the only dirt bike ive ever ridden but i was pleasantly surprised by the dualsport's off road handling, especially for a nervous n00b such as myself and especially considering some of the rocks i was hittting. My only complaint is the gearing which i found far too tall. changing to 2nd was pretty much out of the question for me on the trail with how far it was from 1st, and even at 100km/h i wasn't sure whether i should be in 4th or 5th.
Loving the bike and i had a great ride today but i think the gearing is something i'm going to have to investigate a little further.
Looking forward to the next one already!

Just started riding dirt myself on the same bike. The bike seems to naturally stay upright...so far.

For off roading I have found switching to a 14T front sprocket works better for me on my DR.
