Coooool!!!!!
Wow, a guy gets all preoccupied with a new job and look what happens! I just got caught up, and it's great to see all the adventures my fellow gorgians have been having...I was especially tickled to see some photos of Suicide Grade - the water crossing at the bottom was my very first solo water crossing, how neat to see pictures of it!
I rode the 450X I had at the time, not the CX500. SInce I was alone, and didn't carry a camera at that time, (or wear any armor beyond helmet, mxboots and gloves for that matter ), I don't have any pics. But I'm pretty sure it looked just like this:Quote:
![]() just like that.......I remember the creekbed being very "lumpy" with babyheads, and that if I fell it would probably suck, but I managed to cross both directions without mishap. It was the end of Mill Creek Rd, which turns into Upper MIll Creek Rd (a very similar and fun 4WD road about another 10 miles beyond the start of Suicide Grade) that finally taught me the foolishness of not wearing adequate protection....a lesson well and gratefully learned. Did you Take em up Hedges Grade as well AJ? It's kinda neat to take a break from the forum (not intentional by any means) and come back and catch up with the local riders and their reports, makes me want to get me a more capable bike ASAP so I can go with y'all on trips like that, kinda reinvigorated what got me interested in ADV in the first place...Thanks to all for sharing!

I headed down to Parkdale, dried out a little, then ran up to Lost Lake (back in the rain again) over Lolo Pass and back to Oregon City. I guess I still had a little adventure but not the one that was planned. I hope I can attend the next ride, armed with an air pump, replacment tube, tire irons ect.

Meanwhile, come to a Meet-UP, and show Road Rash how easy it is to get there from Oregon City.

Tygh Valley was actually sunny & warm T-Shirt weather, where we stopped for snacks & gas, and it sure was fun getting there and back along Jordan Creek. Somebody actually spent some time on the creek croosing, removing the big rocks, so it was smooth bottomed, and low water. Good,... and bad (less excitement and less chance for ADV camera fun !!) We hope you can attend the next ride, too, and I'm glad to hear you made something of the day, anyway

Thanks for leading the ride, AJ. Your encyclopedic knowledge of all them back roads and routes sure comes in handy. We appreciate it.
Susi and I got back to Little John at about 4, with a big ol' nail stuck in my rear tire. No field repair needed, luckilly.
