Loaded?

My 08 GS has all the options. The most useless I believe is Traction Control. I guess if you spend alot of time riding on pavement in the rain which not many of us do in N.A. Ducati and the YumYum S10 also have these power settings. Why? Just have one setting. Maximum. Learn to use the throttle. Not many of us ride our GSs on a race tracks and if we did, 110hp ain't that tough to handle. I could skip all the fancy useless options and trade them all for really awesome suspension. IMHO

Lots of dreaming and wishing going on here.

This is fine...but from the pictures the bike is fully designed...cast in concrete...likely most of the manufacturing tooling is in place and being installed.....so...BMW has fully decided what we will get for the water head GS.

Maybe the definition of the RT, RS an other R water heads are still a bit open....but it is clear that they will be on the same plat form and follow of the next several month/years

I don't need the height, excessive ground clearance, the foolish tail in the air/cat in heat look which needlessly moves the CofG up of the GS...I do like the 19inch front wheel for dirt roads love the R bike suspension.

I would love the see the basic water head R bike with a 19 front cast wheel for good poor road and dirt road handling. ESA as a option, Mounts for GS type bags. This would make a better back road and dirt touring bike for me . I have no need of the pseudo macho look the GSA and I don't like being a tip toe parking lot ballerina.

not likely to happen....most buy the look image of the GSA.

I asked my dealer why all the GS he had in stock had the more expensive, heavier, harder to maintain and yes tougher, wire wheels. he said that is what people buy...He could order me cast wheel bike ( lower unsprung weight, less flex, easier to clean) better handling cast wheels.

It's not what you want, but what you get. This needs to get on the market sooner so bunch of you start off-loading your GS-es on the cheap, so I can buy one.

I'd have to agree. Even though I mentioned the hope for more sophisticated ESA, I'd trade that and a bunch of the other electonic gadgetry for the option of top shelf suspenders from the factory. As to the OP's question: Ohlins, Wilburs, Hyperpro, Elka all make good options. If that can be an option from other makers, why not BMW?

Anybody figure we'll see the Water Boxer any of the IMS shows this winter?

So, is this "Rallye" and two behemoth scooters all they have to show at EICMA?

swell.

And YES i think the 2012 will be the above picture.
The Car year is from a mid Normal Calender year.Or month 6/JUNE.

So i would think the first waterheads will turn up middle next summer in Europa Corp in selected showrooms for your pleasure.

I don't like this color combination a bit, do you?
Confusing colors, white upper handguards, seat and stickers on tank, silver rims...

I'll disagree, I really like it. I'd love to see the silver tank leading edges be also done in the pearl white and the graphic extended onto them. Nicely updated classic look. It's too bad the engine is so much physically larger in the frame.

I like it. A lot.

It's clearly a placeholder model. BMW hadn't done a special version since the Triple Black (which they continued into the 2012 MY), so they needed something to spark some interest until the water boxers show up later in 2012. I hope they have a presence at the US shows, and bring one of these along. They did with the HP2S before those were available.
