Looks like there are still failures occurring on the Fuel Pump Controller on the 2008s and 2009s even though they have the updated FPC.

stranded in mexico

Hey steve, thanks again for the plug. As you know, 80 mph down the road in Baja Mexico. Then, baaaaaaa! Dead on the side of the road, 103 degrees and 1 pm. 45 km to last town, now what. Of course, fuel problem in mexico, as I thought. No towed to city, internet riders site, info on a fellow mates similar blog in Morrocco. Cut 1 and 2 wire, then by pass the modulator. on our way again. This little gem is as important to carry on a bmw gs as your tire plug kit!! I told this story fast, but in reality, 2 days to discover the problem!! Inmates, carry this among your group! Take care, Ken (aka) silverback

The squared is positive. The rounded is negative.

I got a call this week from a guy with a R1200RT who had his fuel pump controller fail while on the highway at speed. The engine died, the rear tire locked up, but he was smart enough to pull in the clutch lever preventing him from going down.
It's sad that BMW hasn't done a proper recall on ALL the controllers. Someone is going to get hurt or die from this failure.

Thanks for the info, my controller failed a couple months ago, not too far from home luckly. So I got the failed controller wires hooked up to a sae connector that I can use to plug into a sae plug wired to a powerlet.

Hope to see ya again Stephen

Any idea what length is necessary for the F800GS? My bike is a long long way away, so I can't measure...

Are you using the side seat power socket or the one on the tank (if you installed one)? The standard 38" will work for the side seat socket.

Is there any drawback to using a bypass permanently? I know it's used to vary the output but there is a fuel pressure regulator also.

The life of your fuel pump would be shorter, maybe.
