The camera I carry with me has no timer function. My SLR does, but it's 35mm and I'm not sure I even have any film left or if I can actually still buy any. Did I read the rule correctly in that I can take the picture by hand as long as the subject, myself and the bike, or portions thereof, are in it?

Get a new camera! Yes, you can take it by hand if you can get yourself, part of the bike and teh required item i the pic. OR, If you gots no timer, I will amend the prevention item. OK, for those of you with no timer function, print out a picture of yourself in your riding gear and place it on the bike where it can be seen.

Does that work for you?

Exactly, 100, 200, 300, and so on. I figure that this should put just about everyone fairly close to one, unless you have to ride 100 miles to get to a road with mile markers signs.

Does that work for you?

New camera falls below smartphone on the priority list right now and the smartphone isn't happening...

I'll find a way to make it work.

we dont have mile markers here, just signs (ussually at intersections or at towns telling how far it is to the next(few) towns or major locations so finding a nice even one could be tricky...will have a think where i can find some signs though

The smartphone that I grab photos with doesn't fit on a tripod. Not even sure if it has a timer...if I were to use an actual camera I don't think it would stay on my seat as there isn't a flat part anywhere on the seat. As far as carrying a tripod -> that would mean going out and purchasing one first (and I aint gonna do that). But I have been looking for an excuse to rig up a handlebar mount for a camera/video camera for use while the bike is in motion (mostly to photograph the license plates of morons who try to run me off the road)...

Just commenting that the way one chooses to get their photographs shouldn't be prohibitive in a game that focuses on riding.

But I like the alternative printed picture of myself version of the file prevention item.

Check the RAM mount for good handlebar mounts, if you haven't already.
I've got a couple tripods you're welcome to use, but neither are exactly bike-portable...
I'll just use my cheapshit digital camera at arms length with the bike and object behind me if/when the temps get to where I'm not being a *%&@ about riding...

I've got 4/5, but I can't figure where I'm going to get the mileage marker. Seriously, I doubt that most of the roads I even ride are more than 20 or 30 miles long at most... Really don't feel like breaking my self-imposed No SuperSlab rule, but that's probably what it's going to take.

Routes 40, 95, 85 any of those should have a marker for 100, 200, 300, ........... A lil googlefuing shows that 40 has miles markers and I am sure 95 does.
