I'm using the Tubliss system in my bike, with small visual pressure monitors for the bead lock. For the tires, I just kick them to get a feel. If your bike will run, you have 12v power. Bicycles don't have 12v power, so they need a human hand or foot via a manual pump. I don't understand why a traveling moto rider would not elect to use a simple and light 12v pump. |

You can air up tires using one of those fittings that replaces the spark plug and lets the engine fill the tire. This only works on multi cylinder bikes.I don't think it would work on a single.

last summer on the Dempster I had a rock go straight through my rear tire into the tube, the hole was a pretty good size!!
Was carrying a spare front and rear tube and a Walmart/Canadian Tire $12.00 compressor with all the plastic stripped off and it did the trick. I knew it would as I had been carrying it for all my trips to Mexico, so it was a proven pump, in fact I have 1 of the same compressors at home and at my cabin for odd jobs. I stopped another rider to use his side stand to break the bead even tho I had a 6" c clamp with me. |

You can also 'ride' the tire off of it's bead, but then you should figure that its tube will likely be toast. I don't lile doing tire fixes (bigtime suck), but do like talking to people about them. |

The one thing thats not been mentioned about CO2 is it is VERY temp sentive..
20 psi in a cold tyre will easy become 30psi after a few miles & the tyre has heated up. Even filling changes the CO2 temp as the CO2 is flowing it will cool then the temp will stabalize after filling & increass the PSI in the tyre... ( ever seen ice around the neck of a CO2 bottle on a mig welder - CO2 is flowing so it cools) You need to be in a hot climate for CO2 to be half useable.. This I will put $ on... How do I know... I shoot Olympic class 10m target rifles both CO2 & PCP.. With CO2 I have to wait aleast 1min between shoots to let the temp & PSI stabalize for the next shot.... You will never see a CO2 gun at the Olympic's for just this reason.. Pete-NZ screwed with this post 01-03-2012 at 10:21 PM |

This is the inside of the SLIM pump. You can not strip off the plastic case. The case holds all the little bits together. I was surprise how small the actual pump chamber is.
I carry a 12volt pump and have used it enough to justifiy carrying it. If I am to use a hand pump I would get one with a small hose that attaches to the stem. I have ripped our numerous stems on bicycle inner tubes and damaged the pump filler from the pumping action. http://specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCE...jsp?spid=64443 (this is the one I have, it has a special high pressure mode for shocks which motobikers don't need)
