Arrived
These finally arrived. Price came in a little less than estimated, at $367. They fill the space in between the Gaerne GX-1 MX boot and the Gaerne Balance Oiled boots nicely.

Sizing ???
Are these true to size? My other Gaerne boots are a little generous so I usually wear thicker socks. Let us know how these feel

They fit a little smaller than the SG-10, SG-12, Balance models, etc. More similar to the Gaerne G-Adventure boots.
Most Gaerne boots are a little generous. This includes the MX and the trials boots. These fit more like the G-Adventures, which are slightly smaller in the toebox area. When we initially began shipping the G-ADVs, we got returns from many people with other Gaerne boots, that felt they were too small. Since then we randomly 2x check customer orders on their size choices, and returns are now minimal. It is never a good idea to think of fit in 2 dimensional terms (bigger or smaller) but generally speaking I would say these are about 1/2 - 1/3 size small. To fit Gaernes, we always suggest you take an average of the EU (NOT USA size) size of 3 - 4 pair of your casual, athletic, or hiking shoes (NOT other moto boots) and cross against this: 8 = 42 9 = 43 10 = 44.5 11 = 46 12 = 47 13 = 48 I suggest you stay at or preferrably under the EU size. Don't egregiously order larger than normal. FWIW I am a 46.5, and wear an 11/46 in SG10s, SG12s, GX1s, and Balance. In these and in the G-ADV I am a 12/47. As with all motorcycle boots, we recommend staying slightly large on sizing, and adding a performance insole. Insoles make a huge improvement in fit and comfort, and have the net effect of slightly reducing the size. BP Brtp4 screwed with this post 03-07-2012 at 11:04 AM |

flexibilty of the Midland
So I've been holding off pulling the trigger specifically based on this boot.
Can you guys at Atomic give us an idea of it's shift-ability? I have all the same concerns as other ADV riders. Comfort vs stability, flex vs. stiff protection, walkable vs ankle support. Adventure rains may be my boot, but I'm intrigued by the supposed Gaerne comfort so I've been actually considering the Balance Oiled. Now that you've had them for a while a comprehensive review on an actual motorcycle would go a long way. Also, how is it that you all are the only ones in the nation to have them :) Do you guys have a "deal that Gaerne couldn't refuse"? thanks in advance |

Brian, can you give a comparison, maybe on a 1 to 10 scale, of how much protection these new Gaerne boots give versus the Balance oiled/protech and MX boots. I have some GX1s from you and they have so much plastic on them I just can't ever feel like they are broken in at all. I want "enough" protection but also don't want to feel like I'm wearing ski boots.
Thanks, Darren |

Sorry JL. To be clear, we just got them in, and I have not ridden in them yet. Tried them around the office only. They are stiffer than the Balance, probably less stiff than the Adventures, which have a lot of plastic. They are very easy to walk in.
