got back home at 7:30 last night, tired and dirty. fun ride joel, thanks for (being gullible enough) herding the cats again, the splitting up into groups thing was a great idea and worked really well.

i wish i had pics to share, but my camera went kaput by 8:00 on saturday morning.

Split off to visit mother in Santa Barbara on Sun. It seemed like 80 degrees riding home down the 101.

Cafe Emporium in Ojai was very good. Pozo Bar was so so but what can you expect in the middle of nowhere?
Pappy's? breakfast in Arroyo Grande was good.

Most thought I was nuts for not bringing a tent. But, it ended up that tents were an unnecessary hassle.
The night wasn't very cold. No bugs. The only time I was really cold was riding up through Maricopa.
Thank God that frog finally shut up after midnight--it must have finally got laid or gave up competing with
our snorer.

TENTS WERE FOR WIMPS! My KLR was the second smallest bike on the ride; WOW.

that was a long way home for you tom. good to hear you had a great time.

yeah, i'm not good in herding cats, and almost lost the whole herd at one time, have to be 24/7 for the wolf wearing the sheep's clothing.

Anybody else JONESIN' for the Santa Clara Divide to open? I know it has been beat to death, and we are hoping for an opening this spring, but I drive past the gate every morning on my way to work and hope to see it open.

Annual Carrizo/Pozo Ride 2012 - Day 1

An other great riding/camping event. Thanks to Joel for organizing, Bob for woods and beer, all ride leaders and of course all the noobs for participating.

We met around 7:00am at Shell station of Lyons Ave. We were all there but Joel wasn't. That was odd because he usually be at the meeting point an hour early.

But it turns out that he was waiting at another Shell station on the other site of the freeway which nobody knew. Thank God he send me a message saying that he is leaving at 7:30 with out us. I am sure he thought everybody bailed out that morning and he was all alone.
Anyways, he finally found us.

We hit the rode little after 7:30 with a group of 11 riders.

Ed (Novos) was on his street bike and joined us for breakfast only.

Breakfast at Ojai.

Joel sent me with the fast group to take pictures.

But the fast group was crazy fast so I could only took pictures at short beer breaks.

John (Riddler990)

Sito all alone

An other beer break

Noel is chasing me for a change, not for long though.

When we reach Pozo Saloon, Noel was the first one to get his hands on beer of course

Order line.

John & John

Then this lady came and asked for Joel.

Noel, yes he is in the picture. Look harder, right side...

Then everyone else arrived.

Sito and I.

Big one for the big guy

Story teller Sito

Our first casualty, Shan (Rider)

AdvRider Boyband

This is Day 1. All pictures are on my SmugMug. Day 2 is to come.

Annual Carrizo/Pozo Ride 2012 - Day 2

Saturday night was amazing. I was tired and going to sleep but I didnt know it was only 6:30.
It wasn't windy or cold. Perfect weather for camping with clear skys where you can see millions of stars. I ended up going to sleep at 9:30. I heard some nasty jokes around the fire and I am still googling to understand what was going on.

Riddler990 has a really nice North Face tent. Unfortunately it requires 3 people to set up.

First group left the campground before 8:00am as planned and made to Santa Maria for breakfast at Pappy's. We lost rruugger on the way to breakfast but he was back after 1,5 hours. There are some speculations about what he did in this time period but I dan't wanna comment on that.
After over half an hour we were done with breakfast, rest of the group pulled in.

But by the time they made it, first group was leaving. So Dunerat, Sito, Rruugger, Riddler990 and El Zorrillo head out to Cold Spring Tavern for some more drinks.

Rest of the group had their breakfast as well. I was at the restaurant for 3 hours. Arrived with first group and left with second.

Todd is asking my phone number.

After the breakfast Chris (Browneye), Joel (h8chains), John (Johngil) and I headed towards the best part of the weekend. Camino Cielo

John

Wooden bridge

Chris on his street bike with street tires

John under a shade

Joel

View on top of the trail was amazing. We could see all the was to Channel Island as John predicted.

At the end of West Camino Cielo Chris rode back home and we ride to Cold Spring Tavern. But there was a huge line for food and drinks so we didnt wait.
Joel is giving Adv salute to HD riders.

On our way back we took East Camino Cielo to bypass freeway. That piece of pavement is the best twisty for bikes. It is not long but amazing ride with amazing view.

And finally we had lunch at Stacky's Seaside cafe at Summerland and wrapped up the day.
Damn I took a lots of pictures. I am becoming more and more like Joel everyday.
That's scary...
See you guys at DV...
