La gloria
La Gloria is a nice road! esp when combined with old hernandez road and a little bit of clear creek :)
how does Summit road compare to each one of those? Harder? easier? Quote:

Clear Creek Road is open (main thru road) along with Spanish Lake, Sawmill, and KCAC (a great loop). Hernandez is fine, but you should get over to the South Coast Ridge Road (off of Nacimento Road south of Big Sur). If you need lots of dirt then head to the Carrizo Plain or Mendocino NF.

Going to head north soon to check-out Rayhouse Road and Western Mine Road.
THERE WILL BE DIRT! Western Mine is a fun road. Not very long, but you are either ascending or descending the whole way. At the top it connects with Ida Clayton, which is paved, but fun to ride. If you are coming from Santa Rosa, take Franz Valley Rd to get there. After Western Mine, you can go over to Middletown and head north on Big Canyon Rd. Dirt for about 5-6 miles, then paved, but fun to ride. Perini Rd off Big Canyon has some dirt and nice vistas. Siegler Springs Rd, to the north, becomes dirt also. Other than Western Mine, hese are all fairly flat and populated to varying degrees.

there's also a stretch of open dirt road just north of Big Sur called the Old Coast Road. north end is at the north
end of the famous Bixby Creek Bridge, and the south end is across from Andrew Molera State Park. its all easy graded hardpack dirt road, although after winter rains it can be impassible with mud. this is a panorama I shot back in 2001 on a borrowed F650GS, taken near the south end (thats andrew molera in the foreground, and if you pan to the right, you can see the road)

That road is beautiful and well worth the trip. Haven't been down there for a couple of years... wasn't part of it washed out last year?

I remmeber a trip up the sonoma coast a few years ago with several dirt stretches on ridge roads just east of highway 1... I don't remember the names of them, but one came out near the mouth of the Russian River, and the other near the Kruz(?) Rhododendron Reserve (we were northbound)
