Sparkplugs Motorcycle Campground
Took a ride up to Southern Oregon to excape the fog and to check out Sparkplugs Motorcycle Only Campground 3 miles west of O'Brian, Oregon on Hwy 199. Their phone number is 541-596-2691 or the URL is wediditforlove.com/sparkplugs.html
$10 bucks gets you a spot to throw down your tent or use one of the sleeping platforms, or Teepees. Our teepee even had two beds in it. Pretty cushie for a campout. Brian can provide tents and pads if you need, plus just about anything else. This is not your yuppie type campground. Brian is ol school biker, friendly, and straight forward, and he is doing this thing on a shoestring buget. Its not fancy, but it works well, and we felt welcome and comfortable.
There is an outdoor kitchen, with a sink and cooktop and the basics of cookware if you want to cook for yourself. The town of O'Brian is 3 miles east on the Hwy, for a store and gas. Across from the store is McGrews, a friendly tarvern and one of the best steaks I've had in a while.
Here is a pic of the swimming hole on the property is you were so inclined.
We spent the next day going to Crater Lake. I had not been there in 20 yrs, but it is just a impressive as I remembered.
Ron travels with the side hack so that he has a place for his wheelchair. Can't keep a good man down.
We live on the Left Coast, down near Ft. Bragg, CA. Deceided we wanted to find a different way home, so found a road called Waldo Road about 2 miles east of O'Brian which turns into Happy Camp Road and heads south thru the mountains. Great road, no traffic and scenery to die for. Sorry, no pics as we got too busy riding and looking around. The road comes out at Happy Camp on Hwy 299 and follows the Klamath River to the Coast.
