New Rider in North Texas
Just got my new bike. No long journeys just yet, but I am learning about the backroads of North Texas.
Loving my BMW G650GS! ![]() On the backroads. ![]() Who can resist an old sign like this - the Malts were delicious too! ![]() Real horse meet steel horse. ![]() My friend also enjoyed the bike - so much so that he went out and bought a used F650GS the very next day. ![]() Can't wait to share more as we progress in our skills and expand our journeys. Nice Bike!
BillyJack,
You have a really nice looking bike. I ride an F800GS here in DC, but had the chance last week to ride an F650GS through and around the Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=765000 I have not yet tried the G650, but I certainly hope to. There has been a BMW 650 X-Challenge on CycleTrader for some time, and I think about it frequently. Thanks for posting, poolman screwed with this post 02-20-2012 at 07:57 PM |

Gorgeous girl you got there amigo. Looks like she's ready to eat up the miles. Must be proud to feel that thing gyrate between your legs.

Nice looking 650. Head that bike SW towards my part of TX and you will find some great roads. And great BBQ. What a combination. Give me a shout if you need road info. I have been riding these roads for many years.

Thanks for all the enthusiasm- everyone.
The pictures from the previous post were all taken just north of McKinney, TX. I had the opportunity to go for a very short run today, and I took some more pictures. A different route today, that revealed a great farm road that quickly turned to heavy dirt (with massive tractor grooves) and a stream crossing. What a great way to break in the bike. Here are some shots (sorry, was too busy to take pics on the dirt roads) :) ![]() The road ahead. ![]() And the 650 - ready for action. ![]() Inside a cozy little cafe for a slice of pie and a coffee. ![]() A quaint cafe - highly recommended for the above mentioned pie and coffee. ![]() And a great old barn/shed that reminds me of my great grandmother's farm. ![]() Until next time...
