Hi GauteRider,
If your route takes you through Prince George on your way to or from Alaska, drop me a PM. I live 10 min west of the city on acreage so there's lots of space to camp. If the weather is poor or you just need a break from living in a tent, there's a spare room that you're welcome to, also. Good luck with the trip planning and ride safe! |

Julio,
thanks for all your hospitality when we were in Guatemala, I hope we can repay it when you are in Calgary. Sandra and I are in Chile now, we'll be flying with our bikes from Buenos Aires to Los Angeles on April 23rd. After touring around the south west for a bit we'll be heading back to Canada along the west coast, perhaps we'll see you on the road. Ride safe. Jordan. www.hasselmann.wordpress.com

Route Ideas
You're headed up to some incredible riding, so there are almost no limits, but I thought I'd throw out a few ideas. I did the ride to Fairbanks last year from Milwaukee and back, and I road Death Valley this past fall.
I'd definitely recommend riding through The Mojave Nature Preserve and then Joshua Tree National Park on the way to Death Valley on the way up. Great time of year to be there. If you go, I'd recommend Titus Canyon first and foremost (IF you're ok with bouldery dirt and 180 degree switchbacks). Amazing ride. I did it two-up, so it's definitely doable - just depends upon your comfort. By hitting that area on the way up, you can enjoy the Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1) on the way down in warmer weather. I road San Fran to LA in November, and it's absolutely freaking amazing. As for the trip up to Alaska, I wrote a blog about our trip last year, and it might point you in a few of the right directions. Check it out, and let me know if I can answer any questions. www.longroadup.com Happy and safe riding! Off to Cabo via LA in a few weeks myself. We may cross paths. |

In 2010 returning from a 3 Flags Classic Ride, I road the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to San Fran in mid September. I found it cool that year along the coast with most temps in the mid 60 to70. One thing about travelling the secondary scenic routes in California is that I've found that a 300 mile day is about it. A lot to see.
