He has done some interesting things with acoustic-electrics and adding a Midi interface. For the money, they are hard to beat.

The sort of slash headstock and styling of some of the more expensive Breedlove guitars leaves me flat (although I think it works well in the Mandolins) - but I like the sound and the inlay work is excellent. The American series OM with an almost Martin headstock is more to my liking. Kim does great work and I'd be happy with any of his instruments (even the weird looking CM Classic). If Angela Christensen ever strikes out on her own, I'll be standing in line for one of her instruments.

I just bought a Breedlove mandolin, very nice. Only American made mando I could find under $1K.

I've had two seagulls. An S6 slim and a Rustic Entourage acoustic electric. Both are fantastic players and I find myself reaching for the Entourage more often than my Martin DM because I think it's easier to play.

Good purchase and excellent value.

Surprisingly, a very heavy sound !

I'd love to get an el-cheapo Squier like this. Only problem is that they are not cheap.

...great gift. I want one in black!

I remember back when they came out, they were like a hundred bucks, along with the frankensquier '59. Fender usually changes stuff up every year though, like a vehicle manufacturer, so when they were gone, people went apeshit trying to get more. If they've reissued them, I'm sure they cost too much now.

My wife bought me one at a charity auction for $100, nobody else bid and she brought it home. It sounds pretty good if you keep moving, let it ring and it's not so good.

Here is one I made back in the 70s out of a cedar log and a busted Fender Mustang neck I found in the trash.

Ronin's Guitar: Last week near the end of Ronin's drum lesson he asks his tutor if he can build a guitar. As the lesson takes place in a music shop there are guitar necks, bodies & hardware for sale. So he picked the parts he liked and together they built a guitar. He helped restring it too.

As the guitar is a real mutt with no real pedigree I tell Robbie (tutor) I'll trade him a beat-up 1966 Fender bass case for the mongrel. We struck a deal and Ronin bought the straytocaster home today!

Anyone have one of the new Gibson Les Paul Special Humbucker's? I haven't looked at Gibson site until recently and noticed they have a bunch of new/old guitars. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Elec...Humbucker.aspx. I have a Junior and was looking to get a Trad. but I saw the Special and was wondering how it sounds. I haven't seen anyway locally. I know the Specials were introduced to bridge the Junior with the Standard. Are they as good or better then the Studios? Or should I get an Epi. Tribute Plus instead? (All Gibson hardware in a Epi body.) I'm looking for a Traditional/old Standard sound but at a lower price. I've heard good reviews of the Epi Tribute but haven't seen any for the new Special.
