New R1200R - It is a sickness...

Hi guys !
Bought a new 1200GSADV a couple of month back.Love that bike but it really only makes sense on longer trips.
Also had a 09 R1200R.Liked that bike, too.Except for longer trips where my long legs gave me pain...
Anyways, saw a new R1200R-Classic at my dealership and immediately knew I was in trouble...
Great looking with the nicer instruments and better looking, beefier forklegs.
That torquey Dohc boxer is a charmer, too.
The only thing I don't like is the fact that the good looking spoked wheels need tubes that are harder to repair if you pick up a nail on the road.
Won't leave the house without irons and tubes...
Anyways,if you like a bike that is fun and sporty to ride and still capable to tour on,don't look much further than the R1200R !
If you don't have long legs and are not planning to ever leave the tarmac, probably better than even the mighty GS.
I will put a Wunderlich Trophy fairing on mine and wouldn't know which bike I would rather ride.
A fun to and practical machine.Like CB 750 or R75 of yesterday.A real motorcycle that will do it all.
And probably one of the last aircooled boxers.
Get them while you can...

Sorry guys,no plant, the R1200R really is that good...
Except for the tubes, but you see even BMW is not perfect...
It is the closest thing to a modern R90S which was my childhood dreambike...

Now if they'd used the same spoke system they use on the GS, they could have been tubeless. Why didn't BMW go that route? Spokes are pretty. So are carbs. Any reason you couldn't order one with spokeless wheels?

I'm glad you found something you like so much.

I don't like the BMW twins one bit. But, that's why they make Fords and Chevies.

You mean because there's that much difference between a pushrod 350 and a 351?

Skysailor,I was told the reason the are not using the GS rims is that they would not have cleared the rear brake caliper with the wide 5.5/180 rear wheel.
I could have taken the cast wheels, but unfortunately the come only on matt-grey or red bikes...
The classic black with the spokes definately looks great, but I could have done without tubes...
If it becomes too much of a bear,I get some cast S-wheels...

Don't know how to post pictures as I still shoot 35mm film...
Besides I'm not japanese...
But there are a lot of R1200R-Classic pictures on the net and at Wunderlich even a nice video with the S-fairing on...

so it sounds like you bought the bike? if so, congratulations and good luck with it. Posting pics isn't hard, even I can do it. Take your film to Walmart and tell them you want your pictures on a C - then you can take them home and upload them to a hosting site like Smugmug.
