I would like to present to the KTM world.....
The Little Mule
Before............. And now........... I just wanted to show her off and take the opportunity to thank everyone in the KTM/Adventure Community for all the help in getting her put together. I'm sure that just about everything on her has been seen before so I won't bore you and tomorrow the Mefo goes on the rear. All that's left is the suspension but first I'm going to ride the crap out of her this summer and by this fall I should have my final configuration/outfitting done so I can get her weighed and throw that into the equation when she's sprung. Anyway, you all take care and I hope to be running into a lot of you over the coming years and as me and the Little Mule do a little sight seeing, the ADV way.

looking good ! The dirt you applied really added to it ! But you clearly need to smoke that rear tire a little more so you have good reason to get a knobby

GPS wire routing
Hi,
I'm curious to know ow you routed your GPS wiring. I've been thinking about getting the same Touratech mount for my 660 but the wiring has put me off. I don't see of you can drill a hole wide enough for just the cable through the dash due to the fuse and other connectors on the other end. The other option is just to wedge it in there but it'll leave a gap for water ingress surely? How did you do it? |

I have a suggestion for you.
You can have a socket inside the glove box. From there you can bring it out through the front, between the glovebox cover and the front lip of the glovebox.
Cheers.

Hi everyone sorry for th delay but my work is pretty heavy right now between my real job, the lil mule and getting the 1198 and RSV4 ready for the upcoming track season here.
It is in fact the Titanium Remus Rox. This sir is the controller for the power distribution unit I installed from Arboreal Systems. It controls up to 10 separate circuits. 4 designated heated pulse width modulated circuits with 32 linear steps so you can get just the right amount of heat and when turned down actually do save electricity. (At full on they can be used for other devices like lighting if needed.) 2 Utility circuits. These are really cool when used for lighting because you can actually Dim your Aux lights so they are more friendly to oncoming traffic. (These 2 can also be configured as stepped heated circuits) There's 1 Rj11 output and 3 USB outputs for charging everything from cell phones, Ipads, etc. Installation on the 990 works great due to the glove compartment and all the room between the bottom and the intake cover. The top hole is where I run the Power wire to the battery and the USB cables. The bottom hole for all the the heated and utility wires. I used Industrial strength velcro to mount the box. Then in order to remove the Glove compartment or Distribution box for maintenance I used a 10/12 AWG 2 pin automotive weatherPak connector. A couple of cool things about this setup is the ability to not only configure the actual settings/power levels but also the ability to have them set to shut off automatically at a certain time limit after the key is off. You can then power back up with the key or manually by the rider. The box is also smart. The box will shut off all the circuits at a certain battery voltage something that a fuse, switch and relay setup can't do saving you from the dreaded dead battery scenario. Once you have it configured the way you want it you don't need to use the controller and can remove it from the bars and stuffed in your tank bag, jacket, etc. I chose to go ahead and still use separate switches (4 on the top mount for heating and 2 on the throttle side of the bar for lighting operated by my thumb) since I tend to ride where the controller is in the way of passing tree branches and the occasional mud pit but for those that ride mainly on the street where I have it mounted (Mirror mount hole) it's not a problem And for those who want to point out if the box should die you'd loose funtion of all those circuits, That's what an electrical kit, 2 added powerlets are for.

First off when I drilled out the cover for the GPS mounts I also created a notch wide and long enough to cut a grommet to fit and then route the GPS wires While you're at it go ahead and notch the headlight cover. If you'll look under the Hood at the metal support the GPS mounts too you'll see a slot. This is where I routed the wires through and then toward the clutch side where I tied them up nice ad compact and then wrapped them in electrical tape. Even tough I'm not planning on using it I went ahead and installed the antenna with some skinny metal straps I got form Lowes along with the grommets. After you get everything the way you want it and power hooked just get some black RTV, fill in the hole, wait 24 hours and finish it up. Wait another 24hours and then add some wire protector at the GPS (also bought at Lowes) and you're good to go.
