Motorcycle touring in foreign countries is now the 'big thing' in my life. Glad to see other Americans celebrating international visitors to USA.
This sounds completely awesome. I'm an American, but have ridden motorcycle in Cameroon, Mexico, and Australia. Will do my best to attend |

Tynda's Rally is a small, but very nice rally in the HUGE backyard of Eric and Gail. They do not have this rally to make money (NO FEES), but just to meet and hang out with fellow motorcycle travelers.
Eric and Gail were the first to cross Russia from east to west on a motorcycle (see Guinness Book). Yes, two up on the road of bones!. Now they are retired and have 5 motorcycle in different parts of the world to take trips there. They are a fun couple and have great stories to tell of their travels. There won't be vendors or food stands at the rally. Except for the potluck no food or drinks are provided, but the nearby town of Oakridge, OR has a small grocery store with plenty of food and beer. ![]() It is not clear yet who will do presentations, I might do a presentation on my trip to Iceland. Hope to see you there! Stefan

"the HUGE backyard of Eric and Gail."
Hee hee hee. "backyard." It's an ESTATE. It's *massive*. Could easily hold 100 motorcycles and campers if they packed people in like European rallies - with just 30 - 40, there's still soooooooooo much space! Photos from 2010 http://www.flickr.com/photos/coyotet...th/4740503664/ Photos from 2011 http://www.flickr.com/photos/coyotet...7627055274974/ If you have traveled by motorcycle in another country, and would like to do a presentation - focused more on how to do it and what to see than "here's me here, here's me there...", contact Eric. International motorcycle travelers are *always* welcomed at their "estate", year round - if you ever know of someone from another country passing through Oregon, get them in touch with Gail and Eric.

I've been to this rally four or five times. Was a presenter once. Gail and Eric are awesome. I recommend going although I will miss it this year.

Packing my bags and getting ready as I type
Flying to Phoenix next week and then heading up to Oregon via Chicago, Flagstaff, Utah, LA and Idaho which I think is quite a lot of miles. Looking forward to meeting Gail and Eric after hearing so much about them. See you all there.

I've only been to one, but it was wonderful. If I can make it up this year, I will. Although I might be headed east on my bike trying to figure out how to get it to Portugal.

Really excited in planning to ride to this gathering! The Oregon area ought to be beautiful in late June.
As mentioned in the initial post, "WHY: To honor foreign travelers and the concept of traveling outside of North America," has added a lot to my life. Appreciating things here, elsewhere, and making friends from afar. Happy trails |

A reminder to keep the thread alive
Glad to see a few of you will be making it (can't wait to meet you, Tiffany!). We may come down a day early. I'll be making my usual chicken-in-fake-cheese-sauce-over-noodles for the potluck.
I believe that, right now, Eric and Gail are in Europe: they started in Greece and are going to Ukraine, but we know nothing about via what routes.

I'm looking forward to this one again. We need to figure out what to do about the Pancake situation???? The cans just don't work for me. lol
In July I'm heading north to see my Cousin in Sedro Wooly Washington then maybe head north to Canada and if time permits I'll go through Banff. If not I'll ferry over to Sidney BC and Victoria then take the coast south. Mike

That's why I put in for Vacation at least 6 to 9 months in advance. I let them plan around my Vacation.
I hope Jayne can still make it.
