Okay so I've put this off for a while but I think it needs addressing now. My bike burns about a quart every 300 miles which I know is abnormal. The plugs are 100% clean and i can only catch the exhaust smoking intermittently. Bought the bike a few months ago and compression is good on all cylinders. The only think I can think of is the valve cover? There's not really any oil on the engine but it's the only thing I've removed and been questioning. It's gasket is almost non existent but would it leak that much and I not notice? I question my valve seals for sure because it will sort of smoke right when i start and clear out.
Another interesting symptom: When I run very rich (1.5 turns out opposed to 3.5 factory) it does not burn oil but runs worse from being obviously rich.
I am confused and open to all suggestions? I've got all day tomorrow to take the top end off, i'll likely redo the valve cover gasket anyways.
*edit. The 'smoke' when cold is more of a mist. perhaps it's unburnt fuel and i'm paranoid?
