The battery lead was the culprit. Dealer installed a battery tender and didn't bother tightening the positive terminal.

Thanks all!

i always that it was good to have, despite the occasional problems starting (usually due to corrosion, but can be prevented with dielectric grease).

i just want to know why the switch eliminator is so desirable....
hope you get your bike back up and running!

what's the concensus on lithium batteries on this bike?
i saw a video that said that it's only for track bikes, so it's not good for a bike that's running heated gear. i'd like to save some weight were i can.

I lost my side stand bolt on the trail and bike cut out obviously and this was my rigging I had to do in order to restart. I had a bolt that was smaller so didnt quite locate the stand perfect for sensor to pick it up. So i used the sticks to hold it just right. Quite annoying but I got it home.

during the safari rally running speeds up to 160 km/h for sustained time I managed a little over 300km on one 22 litre fuel load...stock tank plus rally raid front tanks.

Yeah im gona take a car gps out for a ride and check the speeds see if they match normally 5% out for radars - 324k's to a 12ltr tank sounds crazy

I used 22k ohm. It seemed like there was some discussion about the best size. I have not had any problems. Supermoto junky has some info on it also if you cant find it here.

Or you can turn it off for any map if you have TuneECU.

+1! KTM did say that the 690cc vs 654cc would get even better mileage. I am already impressed with bikes mileage. At anything semi aggressive it beat my KLX250 and kills the KLX351.

Love to hear if other 690cc owners are getting the same kind of results.

I am getting ~20km/L on 2011 690 ER. I ride fairly hard on small streets and forest trails and the occasional highway, with Pirelli MT-21 at ~1.4 kpa. Fuel light comes on consistently ~160km.
