For the love of doG, please do. I'd rather take my chances with that than have to ride behind another NY tag do 50 on I75. If they only came to visit then there would be a few months of peace.

I was born in St. Pete 1960, 4th gen Florida Cracker....these are some of the things I miss.....

We would still be living on the Nature Coast cept we got an offer on 98acres in Ms with a 15acre lake, 2 ponds, and a creek running thru the back forty we simply couldn't turn down. We love it out in the sticks now as well, no neighbors, no snowbirds, no traffic, just peace n quiet.....

Our children have adapted to country life too.....

I personally cannot wait to go back to my home state!

I hate everything about the north east, but my career is all up here unforunately, but I'm gaining experience to eventually make my way down.

Things I miss about Florida:
-Beautiful morning sunshines
-Nice friendly people
-Nice friendly people from all over the world (South Florida)
-My CCW permit
-My boat
-The beach
-Drinking outside (not allowed up here)
-Smoking inside or at a cafe (not allowed up here)
-Boating
-Fishing
-Scuba Diving
-Triathlons
-Low taxes compared to the north
-Nice smooth paved roads
-Affordability
-A nice garage
-Alligatos (who knew id miss them)

I look around at what people pay for up here, and their quality of life, and it SUCKS! Not just sucks, it's BEYOND sucks! I'm coming on 5 years now in NYC, and I have been all over the northeast, and I have to say, after comparison, nothing compares to my sweet old Florida, there is something for everyone down there. I have to say though, compared to the northeast, Florida seems to me almost law less and free. I looking forward to going back home someday.

The only good thing I can say about the northeast is the old charm you can find, and the landscapes (mountains, twisties,etc...) but the weather messes it all up eventually.

2tallnwide, a couple of those Floriduh shots look a lot like Silver Glen Springs as I remember it. (Been a few years since cruising up and down the spring run).

MS ain't bad, though. When I was stationed in New Orleans back in the 90s, two colleagues had places on Moon Lake over in south MS. I could get into that area too.

Thanks y'all, my dad (who was from Ms) moved us from St Pete to Meridian Ms after my sophomore year of high school so my two younger brothers and I could learn how to speak correctly....

I moved back to central Florida in '92, and to Homosassa Springs in 2006. The two spring pics are from Homosassa Springs, if you've never been to the park there it is a great day trip for sure. Don't forget to take in the Ozello Dragon, and lunch at Peck's Old Port Cove at the end of the trail.

The pic of the cypress tree in spring water is from the Silver river, one of my favorite places in the world. The Silver river dumps into the Ocklawaha river which flows to the damn at Rodman reservoir. The section of the Ocklawaha from the Rodman spillway to the St John's river is beautiful too, and also loaded with bass.

The pics of the beautiful oak trees are in Floral City, and outside of Brookesville. Some unusual riding in that area with rolling hills, and some curves...

The spring fed rivers of Florida I miss the most, especially in the summer time. It's like my friend said the first time I took him on the Rainbow river..."man Jim, this is a five mile long swimming pool full of fish!"

Our lake out here in the Ms sticks was built 5 years ago and stocked with bass, bream, and crappie. It's coming along nicely.....

My friend Mike with a football from the lake....

View from the kitchen....

This thread illustrates the worst of Florida, the bitching and moaning and the fear filled responses to one pissed off cyclist. Florida has great stuff, but you'll have to look a lot further afield than this venom filled thread. Not all people in Florida are this defensive and fearful, just as not all snowbirds are arrogant snot bags. On the other hand in both cases too many are. Get out and ride to find the good bits and the great people.

If your pink Crocs frighten them off, you are sorting the turds from the ones worth talking to.
