Rambling about Michigan on my XR250

OK, so this is my first real post on ADV, so I thought I would start off with a simple ride report. As far as dirt bibe riding in Michigan goes, we don't have scenic mountain vistas, canyons, or sprawling desert valleys.

What we do have is an abundance of trails through the woods in Northern Michigan, and a few select places to ride with a plated dirt bike in Southern-Central Michigan.

With the recent balmy weather here, my buddy Ken I and I decided to head out for a little St. Patty's Day fun in the dirt.

The bikes, new school KTM, and "Ol' school" air cooled Honda XR250.

We rode in and around the Waterloo Recreation area, finding mostly dirt roads.

All in all we had a great time, beautiful weather (especially for March 17) and an enjoyable ride!

Stay tuned for more adventures to follow!

Pete

Looks like fun

Is that around the tornado zone? My buddy's got an XR250 and wants to plate it.

Evidently, ADV Rider has fairly low standards, as they allow me to post up...

Looking forward to getting up north with you this summer Jeff!

The Tornadoes hit about 15 miles east of Waterloo in Dexter Michigan. That tree I crashed on was probably a victim of the same storm.

Perfect timing. Thanks for the post. Planning a ride over the next couple of weeks from Toronto to Cleveland, via Detroit. Any names of worthwhile trails that would be doable on a F650 that I can Google? Would be a nice diversion. Likewise, any worthwhile diners in the neear vacinity?

Cheers.

The whole Waterloo Recreation area (slightly NW of Chelsea MI for a ref. point) is perfect for a DS bike like the F650. McClure Road and Loveland Roads near Clear Lake are a must do. Very hilly and great terrain to ride. PM me if you need more specifics.
