Shit Wes...

Terrible luck... kudos for finishing with a win yesterday though... broken collarbone and all... (man, that's hard as nails... or were you just on the adrenalin rush to get to the CP? )

I was interested to see how your "nav tower" would hold up for this year (there were some panic repairs/mods and removal going on in Guecirif last year on the return leg as I remember? )

Shame... I was really pulling for you on this one... heal up, saddle up... there are other rallies - like you say.

new nav tower is straight off the Ktm 450 rally with a welded attachment to the frame.

Cant complain really first broken bone in over 30 years of racing ( I,m 41 by thw way)

Was going to try to get on the bike this morning but the doctor said he would pull me from the start line if I did

Yeah... I'd heard that - (Rainer mentioned the idea in passing at last years rally) and they had the " Tunisia option" news on the TUAREG/ORGA site for some time now... apparently they had a back up strategy, just in case the Tuareg did not happen in Marocco for this year (2012).

But with the way things are in Tunisia at the moment, with the political climate etc. (eg: NPO have canned the Tunisia Rally for this year apparently), one wonders if Marocco isn't the better option anyway?

What was the drama on Day 2?

I got a phone call this morning at 4am from the USA's own Brent Teixeira. He was stuck on the side of the trail with a broken WR450 asking me how to get it going again. I guess yesterday he had major issues with the bike he rented and then today it stopped again with the same issues. Hopefully what i told him will help a little. Sounds like a Carb issue that the team were unable to correct overnight last night.
Hopefully he gets it sorted out as it is a long way to go to not finish over an issue that he had nothing to do with.....

Yeah... his theoritic "average speed" of 154 km/h would seem pretty, how you say - "ambitious"...

Due to yesterdays sand storm and todays temperater the dunes are extremly soft, theres a steadly arrival of battered bikes and bodys arriving back at the hotel, with tthe smell of burnt clutchs. Anyone who completes all 4 laps today will deffently desserve a beer.

All most glad not to be out there(ok I lied)

Anyone know if problems are fairly common in the rental market on the these rallies? I would of thought that these bikes would have been well sorted out.

The last i heard, Brent had called the organization to come get him but they could have been 2 - 4 hours away. He was going to look at my suggestions while he waited...

I hope he got it fixed trail side and got going again.
