I've been told on a couple occasions that antifreeze will play hell on your septic system. City treatment plants with proper aeration and digestion systems stand a better chance of dealing with this stuff. I'm sure there are a few "turd herders" here who can clear this up, so to speak.

Dat, Greenville County takes antifreeze, too. I saw the drum at the recycling center off Georgia Rd on Friday. There's a location in Simpsonville about 10 miles from you, but don't know if they have a drum. I suspect they do.

Maybe why they have "special antifreezes" for them remote plumbing systems and RVs left over the winter. Big pile of that right at the door of your Great Canadian something store just a few months ago.

Got to wonder what other chemicals get dumped down the drains up this way.

OK...I'll go ask now, I don't think too many here make a profession of treating sewage, and even teach it like my friend. Good money....!
the RV and plumbing anti freeze is non toxic. You can drink that stuff, although it tastes pretty crappy, but some of the homeless guys drink it to get drunk

Antifreeze disposal - I take mine to the local RADIATOR repair guy.

If its a big issue offer the guy a six pack but save up a a bunch of used gallons and get rid of them all.

Nothing has chewed through the containers at my place yet. Can't say the same for the bear , the bucket of old fryer fat and again the empty container of Oregano....!

The abandonned house across the road is just infested with mice and packrats....!

anti-freeze

Quote:
what do you do with your anti-freeze?
Cars, bikes, tractors, whatever. If it's water-cooled, what do you do with it?
None of the places that take oil in my area will take it.

Is it safe to wash down the drain; diluted with water?
If you still live in Greenville, you might want to check out the link below.

Regarding the animal comments.......... No luck locating a site to help you out.

Thx for all the help gang.

And with those links I found this: http://earth911.com/

it actually showed me several places that recycle it.
It's one more 5-gal bucket to keep and fill, but at least it's not dumping it down the drain.

Been catching 2-3 rodents a day at my place for over a week. Moving down from the abandonned house across the road.

Went up there yesterday, set them up a few platters of AF with bacon fat flavoring.

No cats to worry about asked the neighbors already, just probably a few hundred rodents in the house....as gross as it can get, everything is covered with shit. Please don't tell PETA...!!!

BTW..... the sewage treatment plants can't deal with Glycol/Antifreeze. Has to be very specialized systems to do that. Pour it down the drain/toilet....out in the environment it goes. Got a page full of science/chemistry over that asking my friend.

The should have a law to ban them glycol based antifreezes, just thinking about all them busted hoses/rads, must be spills in the millions of gallons at 3-4 gallons at a time.

Save it up and give it to an Austrian winemaker, they know what to do with it!
Seems they had to burn it in cement ovens to get rid of it.
