Ferries! Northern Neck VA
I've done this ride annually for a few years now. The allure to it is a quiet ride through the country, 2 ferry rides and some good eats. Always a good start to long lull of winter. The 2012 excursion was no different. The route is about 270+/- miles, all tarmac.

The ride is year was also completed as part of the "Dirty Dozen" GS Riders through Rawhyde Adventures and Bob's BMW.
We rendezvous at WaWa, despite expecting only 4 bikes--had an impromptu meeting with two other SMIB:
Scotty and Walt were off to go camping--
Meet the riders:
Marty (who is mostly a ghost, and I didn't get a good photo of him all day..) He's in the very back, beige.
We departed at top of the hour as planned, as all the expected riders were accounted for. Most unfortunate that Erik planned a "hookey" day from work and would be a few mins later...no fear, he caught us at the next stop 1 hr later..
The one-out, one-in policy was in effect. Just about the time Eric needed to break off and head south, Lance had found us in Tappahanock...
The route had us going right by George Washington's Birthplace. It was worth a victory gallop around the traffic circle. If you ever have a few hours, it's worth the visit.
Lots of roads next to water:
And farm fields:
And a few quaint towns..
Lunch was at the usual haunt in Kilmarnonck. While the menu was the same, the name had changed:
We sat outside on the porch. It was lovely. Even had a sun umbrella. Lunch was good, albeit, one mason glass didn't make it.. Ever seen a glass jar used as a hammer? Neither had we...
All in all, a good ride had by all. Thanks for joining!
