skilled /2 wrench in Seattle?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a skilled vintage BMW wrench in the Seattle area? Specifically dealing with /2's? I usually do my own work, but could use a hand as I am facing an issue that is a little out of my comfort zone. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Have you tried Kevin Brooks? He's South of Seattle.

I am new to the Seattle area, so Kevin Brooks is new to me - looks like he does some beautiful work - I have a sneaking suspicion the hourly rate probably reflects that.

I appreciate the tip on Brooks - it does look like a great shop. The thing is that I am looking for just a solid wrench to contact when the task is beyond my skill level - and not really a restoration shop. Like I said, Brooks looks like a great place, just a little more than I need right now.

Anyone know of a good vintage BMW wrench in the Seattle area?

Don't know if this guy works on /2s, but it's worth a call at least:

There used to be a guy who worked at Buckingham BMW (now Ride West BMW) at the same time Mick worked there... this guy was a pilot for Alaska Airlines (IIRC) and he was the shop's /2 guy... very knowledgeable, professional and nice.

You might ask Mick if he remembers this guy's name. If he doesn't, call the GM of South Sound BMW who was a technician at that time as well, he may remember. The GM's name is Brendan Ferrer.

IIRC, the guy's name may have been Scott or Greg.... I worked in the parts department at that time and this guy worked days I didn't typically.

Thanks guys, it's a start! I had a couple of very good resources in Chicago to keep the old boys on the road. I will ask Mick - who is so busy I don't know how he'd feel about wading into the world of /2!

Other than Backfire and VME, is there anywhere else in Seattle that an old Beemer might be appreciated and maybe park with other interesting German iron?

I would give Kevin (Brooks) a call for sure. he doesn't just restore bikes! He will be happy to tune/fix/repair. Best old BMW shop going in the sound area bar-none. Very reasonable as well.

Hi Seth, I was about to recommend you, with the caveat that you're 150 miles South of Seattle, when I saw this post.
(the enamel badge guy)

If you can't find anyone you like up in Seattle, you might give Seth in Portland a call.

(no, this recommendation is totally unsolicited by Seth)

Oh, and welcome to the Pacific Northwest, chitouwn! The VME is a good place to start, lots of /2 enthusiasts among them.

Okay! I will seek out Kevin Brooks, and I will check out the PNW guys on Yahoo. Hopefully see some of you at VME events as well. Thanks for the welcome - I am loving it here!
