Sonic is too small. She isn't working right now since she is trying to finish up with school, so she can't afford anything outside of what the insurance has given her, which is right around $8k. She looked up reviews on the Malibu after I told her about the responses here. She said that the Maxx was the one that had all of the problems, and the regular Malibu was fine. I said "Oh ok, that makes sense" and walked away. Not sure how two cars on the same drive train can be different, but ok. I think she decided on getting another Cobalt, which will be fine since she can get a nicer one than what she had with the money they gave her.

You should buy a Civic when she buys her new car and see which one lasts longer...

Brand loyalty in this day and age blows me away. Most companies are making outstanding cars with the exception of 2, and 1 of them was mentioned above... (it wasnt Ford)
My sisters both have had, and have Hondas. Civic, Accord, Element, and the Odyssey van. They have been great cars. My mom had an Acura TL, which gave a lot of trouble, but so does her Infinity she has now.

My wife is in the market for a new car, and I really want her to get a Honda, but refuses to drive such a "boring" car. She is young and wants a fun car before we start having kids. She has decided on a Beetle. I don't like VW, but she wants this, so she will probably get it. I am fine with getting it for her, and just hope it will work out.
