This is not the best of it though, the Factory Rally bike has a completely different front sprocket to all other KTM's, "no problem" he says, fire me the details and we'll knock some together for you. That's right, a special run for the Factory bike. Top job!

You have made such a heavy contribution to the advancement of the KTM 9XX in OC it is only fair that those of us that can give a little back. Count me in on the supporter pack besides I'm a sucker for swag.

This is what seperated you from me and the other 99% -

" I did not have the money so the house got re-mortgaged!" -

Balls to the wall right from the start - this is going to be one hell of a ride -

give DAKAR a good trashing - all the best

As I sit here in my hotel (away on business) I stress about all the things I need to do, the people I need to contact and the dots I need to join up......nothing to do with my work, all to do with Dakar and the year ahead.

Then I just reflected on all the things that have happened since I last logged on and realised this is due a huge update. Loved reading through all the comments, great to be getting so many people on board. I promise you will not be disappointed with what you get in return as a supporter, this is not just about Dakar, there will be lots of reallt cool stuff in the run up too.

I just sent the equivalent of a years worth of mortgage payment off, not for the Dakar but for the FIM World Cross Country round of Sardegna (Sardinia), all part of the Dakar preparations. If anything will get my road book skills challenged and more importantly, improved, this will.

This coming week I will update on all the decisions, progress and actions that have been happening of late so keep yours eyes on it.

For now, have a great weekend, I'll report back when i get a bit more time in the week. Currently it feels like 40% work, 50% Dakar / Racing and 20% sleep. I know that adds up to 110% but seriously, that's what it feels like I am putting in right now. This IS going to work!

Keep me informed with the swag.
As I said BDG Azzy Dave Ian and myself are serious about seeing you at the Dakar so keep us informed if you can ref sailing costs etc as I'm seeing ridiculous quotes on here.

Set it up for a fat lad!

Will you use Sardegna as shakedown for the 450RR or ride an enduro bike as most pros do?

The calendar and more details will all be revealed in the coming weeks, just as soon as the web-site is up and running. But the answer in the meantime is yes, I will race the 450RR at Sardegna. Sure, an enduro bike with a lighter chassis and a little more agile would be better for the more technical terrain of Sardinia however, it will not build my experience on the 450RR.

The Baja 1000 in 2007 would have been much easier on a 450 than the 950 bike we chose, but would I have been as good of a rider on a big bike today if I always made that choice, to go for the smaller bike every time I went riding.....certainly not. For me, time on the bigger / heavier 450 is crucial to get me in the best possible place for Dakar. Sardinia is all about the experience, particularly to get my road book skills up to speed and get some long hard days on the RR. I'm not interested in a result, there are too many other important things to work on than worrying about my seeding.

Incidentally, I will be running the 450 in Rally Lite trim for Sardegna, loosing weight and size from the bike. Sure I will run the suspension softer due to that but I have plans for riding the bike fully laden later in the year to get the suspension where it needs to be for Dakar. All part of the plan.

Oh man, here we go again!! After your team took on the Baja 1000 back in 2007, I was forced to purchase a 950, after reading and following the exceptional write up. Now DAKAR for Pyndon in 2013 right after Ned in 2012. Sounds like I'll be forced to pick up some kind of rally bike after DAKAR 2013. I'm locked in and looking forward to all the info. Web site added to the favorites and ready to support. Thanks and good luck.
