Best motorcycle custom I've ever seen.
That wins so many DOH' awards.

My carbs have risen to the top of the bench...
They were received Feb 17 and I should hear within a week what the "Carb Doc" thinks!

Springtime
It was Spring for a little while in New England. The bike started up on the first kick.

We're not in Kansas anymore!
One pair Type 120 Bing slide carbs, # 1/24/133 & 134. c. 1965 w/ 76,000 miles use.
Received back from Bing Agency after complete rebuild. They're so clean they make the rest of the bike look like crap. ![]() I hesitated to put them back on.... ![]() These were operating before they were sent out. I'd cleaned 'em and installed the basic gasket kit and rode the hell out 'em for 30,000 miles. I replaced the slide return springs. I mentioned it and they didn't replace them again during the complete rebuild. Which included: x 2... Gaskets Needle jets Jet needles 7 gram floats Idle air adjustment screws & springs Idle jets Main jets Cable grommets Float needles He fixed my broken tickler And threw in the Bing Book $400 danedg screwed with this post 04-09-2012 at 05:41 PM |

Shakedown
![]() The rebuilt Bings seem great. Had to retighten several times with the new intake flange gaskets. Idle mixture screws have already been tweaked from factory settings for consistent plug color. Light brown. Had the front shock cartridges rebuilt, and have discovered that the front suspension to be forgiving and responsive... Refreshing! Checked for true TDC, tweaked magneto with an inspection mirror back to -S mark, and set points with Vechs' PointOMeter ![]() She starts and idles like the sultry b....... BUT! She's "skipping' in 4th??? It was fine last year! WTF??? A friend of mine suggested checking the 2 Allens under the air cleaner that hold the shifter forks. Sure enough, the front bolt needed tightening, and the "problem'" disappeared!!!! ![]() Todays ride was sweet and problem free... Is it possible I've actually rebuilt this bike? *** Disregard that oil smear on the front wheel! I got greedy when she got back running and cranked up the front shoes that heated up enough to flow grease from the hub. It didn't affect the shoes but they should be done again.... I was ridin' it like an R100 instead of an R60. danedg screwed with this post 04-20-2012 at 06:55 PM |
