Pivot bearing lube
So at just under 25k, my pivot bearings are showing some play. I ordered the replacements from MaxBMW and will be tackling the job some night this week. I know the normal procedure calls for Honda Moly 60, but part of the issue is the lack of a real seal so water ingress washes away some of the lube.
I have a tub of high temp disc brake bearing grease. Very sticky crap and very water resistant. What's the general consensus on using this instead of Honda Moly? I have to buy some moly anyway to redo the splines to get the FD back on, so I'm just wondering if there's a better alternative.
BTW, I talked with my local bearing supplier last week and they have nothing that matches the BMW specs. Kinda sucks...I was hoping to find something that was sealed instead of open, but there you go.
I will just add this procedure to my annual rear tire change.
