I have been as good as 52 mpg in the lost coast and as bad as 45 mpg going through LA. Riding in the desert hard i regularly get between 45 and 47 mpg.

Shes great. Suspension is revalved and stiffer springs. Cruising at 75 mph is pretty easy. My milage doesn't suffer to much.

I got my first flat today on the trip. Just riding around town picked up this nail in the front. Figured out that my hand pump is not up to par with where it should be. It worked great on my snowmobile shocks but not quite enough volume for the moto tire. Any suggestions for pumps?

Check out wally world , they have a small self contained pump by SLIME called Tire Top Off , has a lite, Gage, extra long

power cord for 12v outlet ,packs in its own container & fits in the tank bag

Best of all it's cheap.

The fairing is way better then stock. my head still gets moved around from blustery wind but not nearly half as bad then stock.

On pumps, I think there are basically two routes that people take:

1) Slime (already mentioned, heard a lot of good things about it but a few folks I've read have broken theirs after continued use)

2) Cyclepump - I have one, it's bulletproof. It's like 5x times more expensive than the slime though.

I carry a 2 speed hand operated bike pump and CO 2 cylinders on all my rides... The 2 speed pump should be still available at mountain bike shops... They work pretty good, use the high volume setting to air up quicker and then shift to the high pressure setting to bring it up to final pressure...


On a longer multi day ride I'll throw in an electric pump... I used an electric pump that I picked up from an auto supply store that works pretty good, but is a little bulky... Most guys rip the cover housing off these pumps to make them much more compact...

I recently picked up the much more compact Slime pump after watching one in action as to where it was used to fix several flats and performed the job flawlessly...

Both the slime pump and my auto store cheapy outperformed the Cycle Pump at 1/10th the price... I found the Cyclepump to be slow and prone to overheating....
