need advice on this route

so look to ride this route later in may, google say its about a 10 hour day ride and, which should be fun. my concern is for the route from upper Santa Barbara to hwy 154. the road looks like a 1 lane rd and I was wondering if anyone has taken that route before and can share some tips or info on the road..

Camino Cielo was a narrow paved road with patched potholes when I last rode it. It winds along the ridgeline above SB up in the Santa Ynez mtns with beautiful views out to the channel islands. Winding sinuous road sort of a lane and a half wide. Typical kickass winding mountain county road. Because it's narrow you have to keep right in case there's the rare car coming around the corner towards you.

I smile just remembering that road.

-Gibraltar Road and E. Camino Cielo are both paved, but, as JDowns said, they are narrow and pot-holed. You will get beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. These roads also get a lot of bicycle traffic on the weekends, especially if the weather is nice.

-Tepusquet Road: I haven't been on this road for several years, but the last time I was on it, it was similar to the roads described above: narrow and pot-holed. You may also get some bicycle traffic on the weekends.

-No familiarity with Huasna Road or Huasna Townsite Road.

thanks for the advice,, how bout riding 33 from 166 to Ojai, hows that road look.? I'm thinking if we are tired we can always skip el camino cielo, and go 101 to 154.

Hiway 33 is fantastic -- one of the best roads around this area. The road is in really nice shape and very scenic. Watch out for sand in the corners and if you are riding in the morning, and it's been cool-ish, watch out for ice in shady corners. The road gets a bit of truck traffic on the weekdays and lots of motorcycle traffic on the weekends.

I don't know how far north you are going, but Hiway 58 from Santa Margarita to McKittrick is also a great road.
