Perth - waterproof seams on tent

G`day All,

I have a Kathmandu ground sheet which is the exact shape of my tent. About 6 years old. Nothing wrong with it except that the water proof seam tape is coming away. This means i now get moisture come up through the seam! Does anyone know of a place in Perth who will repair this (ie. New seam tape)?

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Dan

pull the failing seam tape up (you might as well do the lot).
get some silicon and thin it out with turps (just keep stirring).
paint it onto/into the seams.
if you really thinned it out then apply another coat.

Danno you can buy new seam sealing tape as well, you could try local camping stores or ebay

Hi Dan , Try sail makers in Freo, Same tape as they use on kites.

Aquaseal, urathane adhesive, both strong and waterproof. I've used it to repair pinholes on the arm of a drysuit, glue the braces back into the same suit (yeah the suit was a POC!). Also used on various tarps, bike jackets/pants and stuff... bloody unreal stuff, but DON'T get it on your skin, always use gloves when handling this!!! Available in dive shops.

there is a canvas maker in Vic Park near the funny roundabout down from Tyres for Bikes, sign in the front window claims to repair canvas, tents everything except KTM's . Worth a try as well.

Camping shops sell seam sealer liquid stuff, just paint it on.

Have used it successfully on my shade tents
