Sounds like a good way to see the country, but I'm American so I don't speak the language.

I would love to, what are the dates timeframe? I'm in Stuttgart, just a ferry away.

Hi Chris

I havent really planned anything at all yet, probably going to be about 2000 miles there and back, and would have to get to lands end from my house which is another 8 hour ride would your ferry come in throught dover?

you need to look at the IBA UK forum, the iron butt crowd are doing this all the time. I did it in august 2008, 16 hours dead from JOG down to LE, let JOG at 00.05 hrs so that I could leave AND arrive on the same day. 90 minutes fuelling stops so 14.5hrs riding, kept the old guzzi at 80 and it went well. You will be surprised how much further up, even from edinbourough and inverness it is, it feels like the end of the world up there, very desolate.
One of the chaps, Phil, did a ride a couple of weeks ago, started at Lands End, St Davids, Lowestoft, John O Groats, that the 'corners' run, he did a 'gold' ride and finished in under 24hrs. He then, as he lives in bristol, did a 'end to end gold' where he left JOG and rode to LE, but instead of the normal sissy 898 miles, for a gold you have to clock up 1000+ miles, down to london and back along the m4 then down the m5 was his route I think.
Its all good stuff.

Do It

Hey MoxNix, be a man and do it on your XR1200, anybody could ride a GSA that far. I sure miss the European Roads, I just did a 1500 mile weekend that included the Smokey Mountains and Deal's Gap. I swear, the Dragon is not even a fun road, it's just crowded and full of dangerous riders and drivers, not to mention plenty of Law Enforcement.

enough about me, get back to planning the great UK caper.

Doesn't matter where you start on the coast either.

Thumb

Me and two friends did it a couple of years ago. We debated if it should be completed in one hit, but decided on a route taking 3 1/2 days on A & B roads. It was a good choice, lots of adventure on the way including a haunted hotel room in Shropshire. No sense in just riding up the motorway's and major roads IMHO...
