I have been riding two wheelers for 40 years, and never even thought twice about adding a third, until now. I bought a new 2011 Yamaha FJR about a month ago. Finally got Mrs. Breeze on it last Saturday and did a short 36 mile ride. Her verdict? "Most uncomfortable motorcycle you've ever had."
So now I am thinking about adding a sidecar. I've been doing a little research but I still have lots of questions.
She never liked riding two wheelers - will a sidecar do it for her? or is it a waste of time and money?
Money is an issue. Can it be done on the cheap? The cheapest new ones I have seen are dangerously close to $4,000.
Would this result in permanent changes to my bike?
I have seen some ads mention "quick disconnect" hardware. What does that entail? Is it really quick?
I have seen several sidecar rigs with a leading link front end. Why do so many sidecar owners use this front end?
Is the FJR a good candidate for a sidecar?
What kind of maintenance does a sidecar require?
How does the passenger get some air? It looks like it could be hot in there on a sweltering summer day in Tennessee.
