I live in Okotoks (just North of High River) and my commute to work in Calgary was 35km each way. I typically made that trip in 25 minutes leaving home @ 6:00 am for a 7:00am start. Working in the South East certainly helped, compared to say working in the North West. Nice town, close to Calgary, close to the mountains and some great riding roads. Of course I quit my job in the city and am a first yr apprentice as a Steam Fitter/Pipe Fitter and work 2 weeks with 1 week off. The money is STUPID out here

LOVE Calgary. Been around and all in all, we have pretty mild traffic congestion compared to other major centers', taxes are considerably lower, and proximity to EVERYTHING is a plus. I live in the SE a block from Fish Creek provincial park and it is 15 minutes to downtown, 1/2 hr to airport, and a quick jaunt to get to the highway mtn bound. Home prices here range from high 300's to over a million so quite a spread. Large lots, some with WIDE PAVED lane access.
LOVE IT. |

Oh, and we can usually ride all year. I don't think I've missed a month in the last decade or so!
