First Ride, First Fall
My first 250 km today on my new F650GS Twin. Weather was 10 C. Mountains. I expected my ass to burn, but it's my hands and wrists that ached after a while. It's been 12 years since my last Suzuki Intruder. If I want to get to South America this fall, better be in shape. Well, I ain't. It's a battle just to get aboard this high bike. Very hard to tip-toe backwards in sand... I guess I'll get used to it or find some trick. I ended up doing some off-road. Packed earth and loose gravel . Then, oops, a curve, and thick loose sand. Big uncontrolable wobble, hit the gas, spun around and hit the ground. Hurt a toe, but no damage to the bike at all. Very easy to pick the bike up, in part thanks to Zega Pro panniers. Well, it;s gonna take a while to tame the beast - and to get into shape (fick, I'm 64, I feel like a million years old).
