G'day Dave.

Yep, pretty pleased with the outcome. Of course the thing would still be sitting there without Dan's prodding and help.

Now I have a decision to make. Sell the BMW and restore the TA, or sell the TA?

If I'm honest....I'd like to keep the TA...maybe I keepem both.

Of course I've just noticed a bit of play in the BMW FD...so I guess that's the next thing

On my 87 600 Transalp the battery doesn't appear to be getting enough charge when riding with the lights on or at idle. I am only going off of the indicators on the led plug on a CTK charger wire at the moment.

The battery is new this year and bike starts easily but has not had a long ride since fitting so I don't know if that will drain the battery or not. I place it on a CTK trickle charger after every ride.

Should I be looking at Fitting a new Regulator/Rectifier kit such as these available from Eastern Beaver?

http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__...onnectors.html

If yes, does anyone know which model?

I have checked the condition of connections and plugs and earths so far and all appear to be good. Riding around without the lights on shows that the battery maintains a charged state by the LED plug.

Have been swatting up AT threads lately... pretty sure I've been reading everywhere about the usual replacement being a FH008. I note that EB's personal test describes him fitting a FH008 to his AT.

Have you tried an ebay search, via google. There is shedloads of TA stuff there, and I've seen rectifiers repeatedly, either new or s/h. Usually in Europe tho. I've had good success with German ebay sellers (Hamart, or Haymart IIRC) and another in Austria.

Okay, using a multimeter I had these readings at the battery.

Off- 13.53
Idle - 13.26
2,500 rpm -14.6
Lights on at idle - 12.56
High beam at idle - 12.39
High beam at 2,500 rpm and higher - 12.45 max

TRANSALP 700 suspension HELP!!!

Good evening one and all.
Well a fat boy with a heap of gear eventually will kill a rear shock.
With that in mind I want to get something good.
So far I have discovered both Ohlins and Hyperpro both only make avaiable in Australia an Emulsion shock.
Not one with a sepearte cannister with dampening and rebound remote change.

that all said, have I missed something?
Can someone out there help me.

105kg Rider.
luggage, fuel and water to 60kg.

suggest away as I am still a novice when it comes to suspension.

In regard to the front I am sticking with the stock springs and going a slightly heavier oil and a 10mm spacer to stiffen up the front.

With a new rear shock and tighter front end, hopefully I will be back on tippy toes when I put my feet down.

Please, bring on the knowledge.

I'd say that if you still have 13.53 volts at the battery with the motor turned off... after riding the bike with the lights on for half an hour, then your charging system is fine. So off you go and report back

No Big Willy, that is after being on the charger. Only located the multimeter this afternoon. Will check it after it is ridden next before charging.

Dropped down to 12.86 at the battery with ignition off after ride.

What I would do now Cruz is turn the headlight on for a little while to drain the battery some.

Take a battery voltage reading.

Go for a quick ride with the lights on or rev it up in the shed

Switch off and check to see whether the battery has once again got 12.86v

I'll go and get a reading from my Transalp battery. Went for a decent enough ride yesterday on it so should be fully charged.
