This is the interior of the old temple, where the remains of Cuauhtemoc Xocoyotzin (the last emperor Mejica). These are the remains of Emperor whom legend Hernan Cortez (the Spanish invaders) burn his feet to make him tell where the treasure was. The gold that they supposed the Spanish kept from old temple that guards the remains is an old temple protected by INHA found in the very center of Ixcateopan. Lxcateopan is 30 miles from Taxco, this place is not isited by very many tourist in spite of so much history, so I recommend it as I recommend the mezcal a few miles from there with Donnie had enjoyed in the neighboring population Pachivia. That whole region is very good mezcal made the traditional way.

Danzas

The Dances we had the opportunity to witness outside of the temples are in honor of Santo Nino de Atocha who is the patron of the new temple which is right next to the old temple that guards the remains of Cuauhtemoc. Some of the dances are Moors and Christians. As if anyone cares to know the days 22 and 23 February of each year are pre-Hispanic dances in honor of Cuauhtemoc, authenticity with the maximum possible, these pre-Hispanic dances are performed in the main square which is not very large . These dances are recommended because they are not for television or for tourism and has no cost to attend, they are usually groups of people who have continued the tradition for centuries and continues to meet and give an accounting of who is still considered the spiritual leader of the race. This region is very safe, peaceful and hardworking people that also like to welcome visitors as Donnie may tell you!!!
