Motorcycle-friendly hotels, inns? Please post your favorites!

Hi, all,

How about posting your suggestions of good places to stay for touring riders?
For geographic range, I am thinking about the whole US North-East (don't forget PA) and Quebec with Atlantic Provinces - then again, all hints are welcome.

Here are my criteria:

- No campsites; that is a separate topic, well covered on ADVrider.
- Fairly decent quality (please, no places where you'd be afraid to walk barefoot on the floor - BTDT): from mid-range up to upscale.
- Must have restaurant/bar on site or within walking distance. Once I have my gear off, I don't want to suit up for dinner. Plus, I like my alcohol in the evening: no riding afterwards.
- Nice atmosphere a plus. It would be nice if other motorcyclists frequented the place - but, not hardcore one-percenters / wannabees. There are a few "biker-taverns" where I live and I do find them scary.
- Secure parking for motorcycles (backyard, shed, etc).

Please contribute! Reply to this thread and we'll take it from there.

Levain is maintaining a map of the locations. Post your find and we will add it to the list here and to the map.

--------- MAINE -------------

Millinocket, ME
New England Outdoor Center, (posted by hammerhoot)
Direct view of Mt. Katadin and a sunset to die for on the lake as u sit by your campfire.
The cabins are very nice, bikes are safe and food and drink on premises. Trust me, you will ABSOLUTELY love this place.

--------- MASSACHUSETTS -------------

Sandisfield, MA
New Boston Inn, (posted by rdwalker)
An old-style New England tavern with rooms upstairs. Sort of quaint accommodations, but a great restaurant and a fantastic small bar. Small place, may fill up quickly in season. Motorcycle friendly!

--------- NEW HAMPSHIRE -------------

Jackson, NH
Wild Cat Tavern (posted by Se7en) - the wife and I have stayed here twice; clean, fairly cheap and and a nice tavern down stairs.

Mt. Washington New Hampshire area.
Town and Country Motor Inn. (posted by hammerhoot)
Very nice hotel, 1st floor rooms available. Excellent restaurant and lounge. Very safe for bikes.

North Conway,NH
Farm By The River - Cottage. Not a hotel/inn, but a great place to stay for a group. No bar or restaurant on site (we brought our own beer) but you can get pizza delivered. Pricy, though a great place for several couples to stay while touring the Mt. Washington NH area. (posted by massrider)

Shelburne (Gorham), NH
Birch Bend Motolodge No restaurant or bar on site, but a firepit and enthusiastic motorcyclists as owners. BYOB, and someone had pizza delivered, so that is a possibility. Headquarters for the New England Motomarathon the last few years. (posted by levain)

--------- NEW YORK -------------

Livingston Manor, NY
Lanza's Country Inn changed hands and went a bit upscale. Now it is The Arnold House, Rooms are clean and comfortable, though still no A/C and poor Wi-Fi (June 2014). Nice restaurant and a big bar. The chef has a big local following and the place may be crowded for dinner. May get pricy. Fabulous moto roads in the area. (posted by rdwalker)

Marathon, NY
Three Bear Inn,
Restaurant, Bar and adjacent motel. Owner rides, organizes charity events. (posted by Old Lion).

Margaretville, NY (Catskills)
Margaretville Motel (posted by Irnworker433).
Walking distance to grub, right on Hwy 28. Lots of fun roads all around.

North River, NY
Garnett Hill Inn. (posted by rdwalker)
Rustic, old-style skiing camp/inn. Family-style dining room. Last time I was there: $150 p/person w. food.

Roscoe, NY
Tennanahh Lake Golf resort, "The Inn" is a motel-like facility, seems OK. Restaurant open only Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Surprisingly, I did not see a bar. If the Inn is booked, you may be offered condos - not convenient for riders. A lukewarm endorsement for riders in need - if you can swing it, try Lanza's above, especially if A/C not necessary. (posted by rdwalker)

Speculator, NY.
Melody Lodge, (posted by rdwalker)
Great restaurant and pub, clean rooms. Away from main road. Wi-Fi. Gets busy - reservations recommended. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Wilmington, NY.
Steinhofs Sportsmans Inn, (see warning)
Hungry Trout, (posted by levain)
Both are hosting the Empire State Motomarathon next month - must be at least accommodating; Steinhof's has a Pub. (posted by levain)
(rdwalker: warning - stayed at Steinhof's, August '12 - bedbugs).

--------- PENNSYLVANIA -------------

Cedar Run, PA
Cedar Run Inn, . Older inn, restaurant on premises, the atmosphere was very nice.
Located on a rail-trail crossing the area and next to great rides in Tioga Forest. Accessible on pavement, but a DS bike would be an advantage. (posted by rdwalker)

Galeton, PA
Ox Yoke, (posted by Old_Lion)

Meyersdale, PA
The Morguen Toole Company (posted by dom02)
Decent restaurant, bar, reasonable rooms. They have a garage for your bike too. Great road/dualsport riding area.

Milford, PA
Cliff Park Inn (posted by 13)
Nice little B&B. Little bar though ... they close a little early. Nice restaurant... Fantastic riding.

--------- VERMONT -------------

Chester, VT:
Stone Hearth Inn. (posted by rdwalker)
Accommodations OK (B&B quality), low $100. Friendly restaurant & bar, good food & drink, serves guests & locals - you can have a nice evening at the bar. Owner is a rider. Wi-Fi.

Derby, VT
The Border Motel Under new ownership, things improved. Dinner at the Landing / East Side in Newport City, worth the trip.(Posted by shrineclown)

North Bennington, VT
Eddington House Inn,
Restaurants within walking distance. Enjoyable B&B. (posted by skiaddict).

Stowe, VT
Stowe Motel and Snowdrift - stayed several times. Pool, hot tubs, breakfast included, rooms clean but small, several places to walk to eat within 5 minutes. Great place to end and start the next day. (posted by motoman59)

Stowe, VT
The Gables Inn, Owners are motorcyclists. Great breakfast. (Posted by markbvt).

West Dover, VT
Gray Ghost Inn, B&B, Wi-Fi. Restaurants in walking distance. (Posted by se7en).

West Dover, VT
Kitzhof Inn, . B&B, Wi-Fi. Caters to moto groups in summer. Restaurants in (longer) walking distance. (Posted by se7en).

Woodstock, VT:
Lincoln Inn. (posted by rdwalker)
More upscale New England Inn, mid $100. Nice if upscale restaurant. More couples-oriented, though - a bit stiff. Wi-Fi.

--------- WEST VIRGINIA -------------

Marlinton, WV
Old Clark Inn (posted by FredRydr)
In the middle of riding paradise. The owners ride and offer a place to clean and maintain a few bikes under cover. I organized a club ride ... and we had a catered BBQ in the back.

Marlinton, WV
Marlinton Motor Inn. A fairly standard motel, though it has a restaurant and a lounge on premises. Good riding in WV. (posted by RandoCommando)

Thanks, keep'em coming.
