...I can't see that small amount of fuel gaining him a half second, but damn. It's in the rules, but the rules don't require him to start from the back...makes me wonder why such a harsh ruling was taken. He's got to be one angry man right now.... EDIT: So Hamilton qualifies first and starts 24th. Narain does not qualify at all but starts 23rd. Interesting qualification system there Bernie...

I don't like Hamilton much but I don't think that he has any control over how much fuel the team had put in his car. Gary Anderson's analysis on that page is relevant.

McLaren's reasoning that their margin of superiority in Q3 is so great that the short fuel doesn't matter is lame. A rule requiring sufficient fuel to make it back to the pits with enough to take a sample is reasonable. They violated a clearly defined rule and deserve a penalty.
But back of the grid seems onerous. I would think 10th (as if they just parked in Q3) would be appropriate. I wonder if the stewards are deliberately making an example of them because they first attempted to say that the reason the car stopped was because of a non-fuel-related breakdown, essentially trying to hide their mis-fueling mistake. - Mark markjenn screwed with this post 05-13-2012 at 12:47 AM |

Cool result!!! Kimi, you should have started the push on Mr. Eyebrows one lap sooner.

Results like this one almost have me interested in F1 again.
Didn't think Williams had it in them anymore. Nice to be proven wrong. |

Or Blackburn "rangers" as Varsha announced. Lame not covering interviews.

Kimi's press conference was a classic. Latinos going on and on in spanish about their races and whatnot. Kimi said "happy mothersday to my mum and other mums as well. That's it, thanks."

Great race. Love what the Lotus team is doing. While I hope Red Bull fades, they still look strong. Good race for Alonso.
Interesting to see what will happen between the Senna/Schumacher incident. Even the German commentators were skeptical of Schumacher's side of the story - saying it's almost always the fault of the person that runs into the one in front.

Another fascinating race.
I guess Alonso used up his last set of tires trying to get by Kimi and had nothing left for Maldonado. Fantastic to see Williams get a win. This year's rules changes have well and truly upset the form. A Williams in first, a Sauber in 5th and two Lotus' in the top 5. Amazing. I hope no-one was seriously injured in the Williams garage fire. Also, I hope neither car was damaged. Sorry to hear that the McLaren mechanic who had a problem on Hamilton's first pit stop in Bah-rain has left the team. I assume that means he was fired, which certainly seems harsh for what they describe as a volunteer position. A dumb mistake on hamilton's first stop today, they didn't get the tire out of the way. Doh! Schumacher loses 5 grid spots for rear-ending Senna. Have to say, it did look to be entirely his fault.
