nighthawk 250 hack
I found a light weight hack on CL and had to buy it.
pictures coming soon. thoughts and opinions are welcome on what I am going to try to do with the little 250. That poor little hawk has only one back bone, one down tube, and a stressed member engine. ....drum brakes that might get me killed..... |

Sweet!
I'm working on an old '80 400 Hawk + Velorex combo myself. We'll have to trade notes on subframe ideas. :3 |

We do make a mounting kit for this bike, never sold it to any one who is going to use it on the street. It was developed for S/tep training bikes. The kit sells for $500

Stopping a Nighthawk 250 with a sidecar... Wow. With those totally sweet drums all I can think of is Yosemite Sam and his camel.
Should be an entertaining light rig though!

Oh yea, the 250 Nighthawk still has a front drum, doesn't it? O_O
I bet it'd be pretty easy to transplant forks/wheel from some other bike if the drum ain't up to snuff... http://www.scribd.com/doc/3565549/Mo...ork-tube-sizes Looks like the 250 Nighthawk has 31 mm forks? At first glance, I am not sure if any of the other Hondas of that size have a front disc, but I am pretty sure the KZ200 did... |

For the training bikes we did, which are really only used for 20mph in a parking lot we kept the front forks and drum brake but did put spacers on top of the fork springs to pre load them some.

Ah, your downtube is longer than mine. :<
Did you get away without a subframe? Neat looking bike, btw! |

It just looks longer. The stinger tail is still holding the shock mounts apart, and the engine still sits as a stressed member. I want to put in a brace reaching from the downtube, to the back. The stinger has to go. It scares my kidneys, and when I mount the bike, I have bad visions. thanks for the props, when I got the bike, it was horribly stock. |
