Hey guys! I'm hoping to chase Dillon around on my very own bike this summer. Gotta find one that I can touch the ground on, then take my test.

Spokane to Wenatchee?

Hello Fellow Spokanites,
I'm planning on taking a weekend trip from Spokane to Wenatchee in June. Does anyone have any suggestions for a noob on some good routes to get there and back? I basically have two days and 1 night for the trip and want to avoid I-90 if possible. Any ideas from you seasoned adventurers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Back in college my husband and I would take Hwy 2 over to Everett starting on the short-cut to airway heights then on through a bunch of small towns. It was fun and took longer than just buzzing 90, but was worth the extra saddle time. I'll have to look up the route though. It's been a while since I was in that neck of the woods! LOL

I've not found a lot of nice ways to cross the state other then far north or down south. The way I like to get to Wenatchee is to run up to the Giffort ferry and cross over to Inchelium - a ferry ride is always fun Then head west on Bridge Creek Rd. That will bump you into Hwy 21 which you turn south on. But not far as you want to continue west on Cache Creek Rd. to Hwy 155. From here I would turn south to Grand Coulee. (actually, if I had time, I would head to Omak - but thats a real long day) Then take Hwy 174 to Bridgeport, work over to Brewster and then Hwy 97 to Wenatchee. As an alternative to Cache Creek Rd you could continue south on Hwy 21, catch the Keller Ferry and then take Hwy 2 into Wenatchee.

Buy a Benchmark map of WA, and have a ball. Throw your GPS away, and go which way the wind takes you. Super fun.

Gifford ferry to Inchelium, cross the res. and take the the Keller ferry, south to Wilbur, follow hwy 2 to Waterville then turn south past the ski area and take Badger Mtn road into Wenatchee.
On the way back, head towards Quincy, take Rock Island road or Palisades rd then work your way back up to hwy 2. Take a good map and have fun.

I'm assuming you don't mind some gravel roads.

I just took the Ferry's and road at Bridge Creek road a couple weekends ago..... Bridge Creek is an absolute blast. The ferry @ Gifford was fun also, as the river was quite low. I might suggest running up to Newport, then north to Flowery Trail. over the hill and up to Kettle Falls. Great Brats and Beer @ Northern Ales in KF. One of the main guys there rides a Ducati and is always willing to talk bikes. Down the hill through Omak, Chelan, and over to Wenatchee.

Motion Sports in CDA Looking to Support Adventure/DS Riders r

First let me say I have absolutely no affiliation nor interest in Motion Sports in CDA outside of being happy that someone is willing to expand a local business and support the ADV/DS community.

I stopped in to Motion Sports the other day because they are the local Klim dealer and I was in the market for some new gloves prior to my AK trip this summer. After looking around, I found they had nothing but the light weight Klim gear oriented towards MX guys. After inquiring about the Adventure glove, Chaun( I think) offered to order it in right away and we began to discuss the ADV section of motorcycling and the fact that very few local establishments support it. One thing led to another as we discussed dealer service rates, suspension work on KTMs and Beamers, the availability of tires, chains, helmets, gloves, boots and other stuff. After about 45 minutes, it was clear that he understood the need for a local brick and mortar outlet to carry things that DS riders want and need. He asked all kinds of questions about what things were hard to get locally and what items that local ADVers might be interested in.

Today, I stopped in to pick up my gloves and had another lengthy chat. He has already picked up the SIDI line of boots, has ordered in some of the KLIM adventure type gear, and was really interested in which tires/tubes/chains/ etc that we as DS riders need. He even mentioned another showroom catering to just ADV type bikes and riders. Who knows if it will come to fruition or not, but the man seems genuinely interested in helping out our niche of the adventure bound motorcycling community and providing some of the goods and services that are not currently available locally. If you have a minute and are so inclined, stop in and express your interest to Chaun and Mike about having a local store that carries all of the gear and farkles we currently buy over the internet.. As I walked out of the store tonight, a local guy, raising his family in the area and trying to make a living, looked me in the eye and said "Thank you for your Business" It was a great feeling that someone did not take my hard earned dollars for granted and was happy to have my business. All too uncommon these days.

That's pretty cool! I prefer to buy local (my definition of local is I can drive there in about an hour) when I can. I'll stop by next time I'm up that way.

I'm by there all the time (I spend way too much time at Costco) but have been disappointed by the lack of DS/ADV gear too. With all the KLIM advertising they have up by the road I had gotten all excited. With Helmet Outlet being closed due to their fire it would be nice if someone would step up and get involved in our segment of riding for sure. There are plenty of MX and of course street options out there already.

If the owners want to get involved they should get online here at ADVRider.com and have a presence. Maybe mention that to them next time you are in?

Good to know Chaun's carrying the Sidi stuff now. I've been wanting to get their Crossfire MX boots, but didn't know anyone local who had them for me to try on.

The McAlisters are big supporters of everything. With them on our side, they'll probably do a great job of helping that community.

I regret to say that I have never been in there. CDA Honda has quite a lot of off-road and dual sport stuff, but they are a bit pricey and do not carry anything as convenient or easy to use as the Rotopax system for water and fuel, and only basic/standard parts. Good about ordering things in quickly, but for my projects they tend to have to order almost all of the parts. Personally I'd like to see a shop and/or garage that catered to cross-overs. Fabricating crash bars and skid plates is a royal pain in the @$$! Maybe I'll just get a tenacious streak and start my own garage. Maybe, we'll see how this project goes.

Sorry for the rant. I needed to let off a little steam apparently.
