Dual Sport Boots --

Looked at the Garne Balanced Oils over the weekend, very nice. I am looking for something comfortable enough for road riding, and sturdy for offroad. Oddly, I walk far more in my boots off-road. Currently wearing Alpinestar SMXs, (2002) great boots, but not water resistant or sturdy enough off road. Very comfortable on road.

Should I consider the Sidi Adventure Gore Tex? Or what else? Price is a factor, but since I will wear them for 10+ years (like all of my gear, still wearing a 10 year old Joe rocket Jacket and a 15 year old MSR one), I want to get the right ones.

Sidi Boots

I've had my Sidi Adventure GoreTex for about a month now and can say that these are the best boots I have ever owned. They are more comfortable than my tennis shoes. They have been tested, and are waterproof, as described. I haven't walked for miles in them, but normal traveling/walking they work fine.

I love my Balance Oiled, but if I were replacing my Balance I'd look at these.

I wear Alpinestars No Stop trials boots for my DP duties. They work great, have plenty of flex without scaraficing safety and they are comfortable to walk in. Check them out!

I have a set-very comfortable and the gum rubber soles grip rocks good off of the bike. The brown oiled finish seems to have worn off and I am going to email gaerne about what is the proper leather dressing to use on them to protect the leather.I have only used them in dry conditions so I cant comment about wearing them in the wet.I would buy again.Gaerne list these as trials boots.my boots probaly have about 2000 miles of off road use + some road.thay seem to run a little small though.

I will jump in with the Sidi Adventure Rains . Best boot I have owned. I pretty much wore then on a weekend trip right out of the box to the BWMNEF rally last year. I forgot another pair of shoes so I had them on all weekend. No issues, very comfortable, riding and walking. I wore them for my trip from KW to Prudhoe Bay and back to Key West. While up north I took many oppurtunties to get off the bike and walk to get a better view or better picture. I stayed comfortable all the time, no issues at all. They are very comfortable and have lots of protection and support. You will find threads that talk about the squeek in the boot and its all true, but a simple of shot of WD-40 cured it for the rest of my trip after I got annoyed by it somewhere in southern Canada!!!

Sidi Adventure Rains for me too. Comfortable, waterproof, warm in winter, cool enough in summer, lots of protection and good for walking, but yes, the squeaking does get to you. That being said, I still look forward to some comfy camp shoes at the end of the day (Keen Sandals).

I've been searching for the right "all around" boot and think this is it. I was looking at the Sidi's as well, but like the idea of being able to put a new sole on when they wear out. My buddy's Sidis are two years old and the sole is gone but the boot is in great shape.

I have the Sidi Disco Rain boots and they are very comfortable and quite reasonably priced. I would like a boot with more off road protection and a better sole with more traction. The Sidi Adventures and Gaerne G-midlands look better, so I might check those out. I wish there were a boot with moto-x protection and a lugged sole.

Gaerne Balance Oiled.

I have realworld proof of being waterproof. Rode my Wr250R 400 miles through some of the worst rain we have seen here in California. Didn't leak a drop and kept the tootsies warm. Wish they made gloves like that.

I really like my TCX Gortex adventure touring boots light and comfortable waterproof and easy to walk around in.And they aren't so Frankenstein looking like the Sidi's just a nice looking boot.
