you should set the valve lash at TDC which is the O mark.
Afterward, you set the points gap while the flywheel is at "S."
If it's timed correctly, you should see the "S" with a timing light during idle at approx 850-1000 rpm.
When you rev it the "S" should slowly fall out of the viewing window (hole) until the advanced mark appears.
With the pentacom plate (aka harms plate) you can adjust the timing by turning the points adjusting cam with an allen wrench. Just leave the engine cover off and start it up.
With a timing gun in place, you can turn the allen wrench and adjust the "S" mark up or down until it's correctly in the window at the desired idle speed.
