Some memorabilia was auctioned off (I remember seeing an advert in a classic bike mag) but some remains at his home down near Santon. If you have a picture of the item I'll take a look after TT and let you know.

Question from a Manx first timer.

Is the Isle as credit-card friendly as I'm used to here in the States, or would it be wise for me to arrive with a fair amount of cash on hand for everyday purchases?

Most of the major cards are accepted you should not have a problem...

Don't you use PIN number over there? I know when I'm home visiting Denmark it's a pain in the ass to use my credit card because we don't use PINs for credit cards in the US, and they have to drag out the old slider to do the whole copy and receipt thing.

BTW, wish I could be there. I'd like to go before I turn to dust!

When I went in 2005, I had no issues getting cash with either my credit card or cash card. Call your bank ahead of time, let them know what you're doing and where you're going.

I remember there is an RBS location in Douglas that was particularly handy.

Restaurants pretty much all accept cards as well.

Getting the ferry at midnight tonight. Weather looks fine for the weekend. Boat hired for deep sea fishing on Sunday. The wife and kids will be with me until Monday, then I have four days on my own with my Xchallenge and lots of trail riding. Oh yeah, there is some motorbike racing going on too apparently!

Don't know if its the sort of thing that your kids would like but the museum at Castletown is fascinating especially the cabin room. which was built by a smuggler. We went years ago and the tour guide seemed like he had a drink but it added to the fun! Good for a wet afternoon if you get one.
