Bluhduh MacGyvering a Hepco&Becker Junior topcase?

I got a Hepco&Becker rack für my S10 and a set of side cases and a topcase from Hepco&Becker; the junior series I guess... but the topcase is broken: its hinge is broken. guess you can call it a hinge, but it's more or less just a piece of flexible metal sheet that holds the two halfs of the case together and is flexible enough to function as a hinge. great. whatever.

so one part of the hinge is broken (see pictures below). Any idaes how I could fix it? Attach some metal hinge-joints by drilling through the plastic and fix it with screws? better ideas?

Looks like limited life on that hinge! You could get a piece of rubber from and old heavy duty tire tube
and sandwich it between some skinny pieces of metal. It would be waterproof and last a while. You can
buy stainless hinges from a boat shop that are long. Cut it to size and bolt it on but I'd use something
under it to stop water intrusion....

Go to the hardware store and see what kind of small cabinet hinges are available. Might even find some in black. I like piano hinge for that application. Buy a 6" piano hinge and cut it in half. If you dont like the shine on the hinge, cover it with that black tape that reflects cage headlights.
