The weird thing with him, this has been listed at the same silly price several times.
If you look at his other stuff it's much more reasonable.
Maybe it's just a case of "but honey, I'm trying to sell the BMW parts, but no one wants them!"
Who knows.

Am I has TequilaVision™, or did he just tack on $400 to that in the last couple days?

edit* - nope, definitely hiked the price, and added a link to this very thread!

Holy &%$#@, yes to both. With a screen name like "roofis27", whatcha expect? This is, afer all, "ta'internets". The item is knowlingly misrepresented at an outrageous price, it needs to be reported as fraudelent. ;)

This yahoo is on Portland. Any idea which Inmate he is?

And the guy with the R80 engine has an attitude problem. Big time. Aurora CO, anyone know who this is?

Bad thing about this &#@% is that it drives decent vendors away as well as driving prices up.

Fooey.

sounds like he's on more than just that

But definitely - as if used parts need to be capitalized in that fashion. There's no real reason that a used, incorrectly labeled magneto should be $350, let alone $750, especially when other replacements undercut that; unfortunately there's no real way to report someone on eBay for being ridiculous, but it seems like something that the FTC should frown on. This cat's high as a kite.

shit, $750 would be a more suited price for that $4800 "for-parts" engine.

He may be on mortar or even snortin' drywall mud. Who knows.

I toyed with the idea of reporting ('tis my curmudgeonly nature ya see), but for what? And if someone buys a magneto for a /5 /6 or /7 for $700 and expects to work (as a magneto), who is the bigger fool? After all, cave canem (or is it caveat emptor, my Latin is rusty????).

Either way, it's Darwin in action....

Q: is it made of gold? Jun-04-12
A: Hello, Thank you for your question. No, we do not believe that there is any gold in this part. We haven't spectro analyzed the part, but suspect it is constructed of a combination of super-rare astro-metal called Farfegnugentonium and Bavarian creme. Thanks for shopping. -Dan

He knows damn well it's not worth that, he's just poking fun at this point.

This guy has some interesting ideas about the origins of his parts AND their value!

If you do a few Ebay searches you will find this sort of pricing is quite common throughout Ebay, but particularly for out of print books.

As someone has already said, a listing costs nothing, and it seems a lot of wise guys just list stuff they probably don't even have at a silly price, and if someone buys at they can buy one in at MSP and still make a profit.
