Wow. Great report. But I have not seen a beat-down like this since the last time MeterPig said something with conviction.

Shouldn't it be, "greatest dual sport bike I tried to sell for 6 months" or something? I can't believe it didn't pitch you off after that kind of treatment...I would have leached all my fuel into the desert while you slept.

Todd know's stuff. like how to find awesome trails, minimal slab. Out of 700+ miles in 4 days I think we did about 60 of it slab. Having an attitude of getting lost with no map's, my GPS as an emergency to find gas helps.

Someone mentioned that we were setting up camp with the aid of the evening sun, and only putting in about 200 miles of trail a day. Are the day's of Xplor's dusk to dawn patrol ending? We should find out in about a month, when Xplor get's a hall pass.

Hmmm....

I thought xplor WAS on the trip! At least near the end. If he wasn't there, then who is this?

The case of the missing skid plate....

At some point Greg lost his skid plate. Let's see if we can figure out what happened to it, using some of Tha Rick's photos!!

The first photo of the series - the skid plate is still attached!

According to the camera time stamp, 1.5 hours later it is gone! It has not yet been discovered as missing!

Closeup view....

What did they do in between?
Well, xplor's latest art project was discussed in the woods.... Did the squirrels chew off the skid plate while they weren't looking?

Nope, here is Greg zipping along some nice curves afterwards and it is still attached!

Perhaps it is the Bears Ears curse, as I understand Greg had a flat tire in this area on the last trip!

Nobody will ever know what happened... 3.5 hours after the last known sighting of it, the travelers discovered their loss!!

Exploring the mines

I have to say, it's interesting putting photos together for a trip I heard about 2nd hand!!! I hope I'm doing the trip justice!

This was their last day and with Greg's missing skid plate in play, they explored an area with a lot of cool mines.

One of the mining sites:

Such pretty country!

I think Todd is wondering if Rick will attempt the hill climb through the hole in the rock. If xplor were along, I am sure he would have convinced them to try!

Here is another mine entrance.

Cool catacombs!

What was this used for?

What were they mining? Uranium! (no, Rick is not glowing in the dark)

More pretty country.

Rocking the latest fashions at the last night's camp!

Day's end... and the end of the pictures....

....

No kidding. I was not able to pull those pictures off of Rick's memory card. But you did. Something fishy is going on up the street

Thanks for the additions.

The 610 is a great bike. I keep trying to find a replacement for it, but everything else comes up short. The 500 may fit the bill once I get the big tank. I have one on order. I'm going through the 610 real good right now: cam chain, clutch cushion springs, clutch bushing, reinforced subframe, front fork oil replace,....blah...I suspect I'll have it into next year as a result and probably after that. It is just so capable. Wanna buy it

Great report GrizGirl, I mean Toddler.

If the squirles chewed it off, I'm never camping there again.

GrizGirl - You'll be happy to know Tha Rick loved his new camping gear. Both Todd and I like how you've spruced up Tha Rick's ridding atire. I no longer feel the need to keep a role of duct tape handy to repair a hole in his clothing.

That was definitely an interesting day when you broke out the duct tape for this repair.
